Leeds Match

Recommended Posts

I watched Leeds Wolves today. Thought Leeds looked OK. Raphina came off injured, didnt look too great for him that one.

Time to revert back to 4231. Two wingers and a no10 back in the side.

Krul

Aarons Hanley Kabak Giannoulis

Normann Gilmour

Rashica Cantwell Tzolis

Pukki

I would try Sorenson or McLean with Normann and push Gilmour in the middle of the three at the expense of Rashica or Tzolis
Would probably prefer Williams to Giannoulis

With a system like that I think it is important that the full backs stay out wide rather than giving the opposition so much room to work in as City do at the moment.
The two wide attackers should be prepared to back track and give support to the two holding midfielders and full backs to cover the inside move or overlapping opposition and from that position any counter attack has the benefit of more options with two players in the forward position.

Formation doesn't matter a toss if the players don't turn up again ☹️

Here’s the thing. I didn’t get the impression that they didn’t turn up (ie not trying). They seemed to be trying, but were just out played, out classed and out muscled. Sargent ran his heart out to no great effect. Pukki also ran loads but mostly in vain.

Against Leeds they need to be moving the ball faster, passing better, battling harder

And keeping the ball when they have it, not giving it straight back to the opposition

Oh yes good one, that really kisses me off.

They all need a week on that new-fangled video game room they just spent a fortune on to improve their cognitive reactions so they make better split second decisions!

Got to disagree, it seemed to me from the very first minute today that they were not trying to get anything out of this game, seemed this way to Joe Cole too.  Only one outcome when the manager has lost the dressing room, which it is becoming more apparent here that he has.

i honestly think and i can not believe it has got to this but if Farke is here i can see another 3/4 nil loss

i honestly can not see how he can turn it around everything is a mess

Sack him or he walks i think a weight will be lifted as it does many times we have a chance of a result

To me, giving the ball away cheaply has been our biggest problem all season.

Our game is built on possession and we're not getting any.

Doesn't matter what formation we play if we keep giving the ball to the opposition.

All this Farke Out stuff feels a bit strange - weren’t people feeling a bit more upbeat last week after two draws?  I thought the signs were suggesting an improvement.   Defeat - very heavily, but to the Euro Champions - seems to have really turned people around.

I'd rather we were playing away tbh, we don't do too well at home to them and they'll be bringing 2500 - 3000 who will be ripping the **** bigtime. If they score first it will get toxic very quickly.

The manner of the defeat mixed in with all the other poor results are taking their toll. Norwich fans are a patient bunch and at any other club Daniel would be gone by now. Next week he simply needs a result, he has to be brave and pick a team that goes for the win.

The only excuse for yesterday's shambles would be a win against Leeds - whatever it takes. Then we can say that not turning up against Chelsea was a bit of cynical gamesmanship - we'd let an unwinnable go, there's equally "no point" in a 2:0 or a 7:0 defeat, etc.

And there in lies another problem I believe....DF I think has been told 'self funding, top 26, lucky to be in top league' etc so much that even his bravery has taken a massive hit. Is his confidence in tatters too? It's all legacy in football, will he be brave to have a go or not? Big games coming up

They didn't turn up yesterday because the Manager told them that yesterday's game was not important and we were not going to win it no matter what.

You must have been watching a different game to the rest of us. No fight, no effort and Sargent didn't run his heart out at all. Watch the 4th goal back. No heart, fight, effort whatsoever.

I actually think we will beat Leeds and Southampton.  I’ve just got that ‘feeling’ and I’m heading up to the fine City for the Saints.
Both teams not on any kind of form and sometimes a club needs a total wake up call, a shock moment to sort out heads, focus etc. It’s all in our favour…….isn’t it?!? 😂

But we also have to win these two games, to click that belief into place otherwise as others have said, it’s gonna get very messy.

Do you think we stand more chance of winning those “winnable” games with Farke still in charge, or with someone (anyone) else at the helm?

My heart wants Daniel to do it, and I suspect whatever happens he will be given that chance. Heads tells me differently. Perhaps he needed a wake up call too?  It’s been a seriously long run of dross at this level, the credit he has is on a knife edge now, and what really causes concern for me is that tactically I don’t often think he has it too wrong, but the team have a complete lack of belief and confidence at this level and somehow he has to change that mentality.  Perhaps all they need is a win…and mid table surely in the bag 😜

I think you need to be a bit smarter in regards to what Managers say when trying to relieve pressure publicly vs what they say in the dressing room. Any ex player will tell you its hugely different. If you want an example, ask Holty. Hes quite open to talking about that side of things.

Southampton looked decent yesterday but leaky, same with Leeds. If we can’t score against these 2 at home we really are done.

I’d do the same personally, only change I’d make is swap Any O in for Kabak. Kabaks great with the ball but I worry about him defensively in a two.

Honestly though my bigger concern is how many of those names are actually up for it and will put a shift in. On paper looks great but we’ve no idea on where their heads are at.

Hogesar,

The problem is he said it and they would have probably read it or heard it.  It's a bit like the Judge saying "The jury will disregard the last remark", oh yeah, well how are they going to do that then.  Lawyers know this, that is why they say these things in the first place.  He may well say something else in the dressing room, but, the players are now hearing mixed messages and what we saw yesterday is probably a result of that.  How often do we hear managers say (before a game) it's a tough place to play?  The brain is hard wired to prove itself correct, so, do away with any negative input, do away with the possibility it may be proving negativity correct.

Is all this easy, no, that is why Sports Psychologists specialise in mindset management and Football Managers do not, unless they are specifically trained to do so, and based on what I see and hear our manager is not.

Watched Brentford and Chelsea on the Monday and the players pressed the Chelsea players continually not giving them time on the ball and were unlucky not to come away with a draw. Norwich never pressed at all the gave Chelsea so much time on the ball that it looked just like a training game. We must start pressing and not let the opposition have a second on the ball if we give Leeds the time on the ball like we did Chelsea with the attacking style can only see one result another high scoring defeat.

I still think we miss a Skipp / Tettey type, but we have some good players.(Who aren't performing)

Farke should have enough goodwill to be given a few more games, but the next couple of games are absolutely crucial.

                            Krul

   Aarons Omabamidele Hanley Giannoulis

                  Normann Gilmour

          Rashica   Cantwell   Tszolis

                        Pukki

Tell the players to go out and make up for the Chelsea result.

Prove they are premier league players.

Come on you Yellows!!!

How much is confidence in this though, I’m not sure it’s tactics right now.  If Brentford have a tough run (which we have to assume they will), would they still be able to create the same vibe on the pitch?
It’s easy to speculate, but I keep wondering if we had been given Arsenal, one of the big clubs, massively out of form in our first game, what would we have done, and assuming (haha…I know!) we won, how would the games that followed turned out?

I need to stop thinking about this, cause it’s a lost cause….but I still find the mental side of sport very interesting as I do with momentum……it’s so obviously critical.  Play Chelsea away off the back of good performances and wins, do we lose, yep, do we get hammered, unlikely.
By the way, two 0-0 draws isn’t momentum, it’s an improvement! We MUST win these next two games.  OTBC….you need to be.

Time to go back to 4-2-3-1

Sargent and Rashica gives us pace on the break

Normann and Gilmour give us creativity but also more solidity than a Cantwell or Tzolis

Sorenson can easily slot in anywhere across the back four and gives us someone who will be happy to sit.

Andy O more pace and better defensively than Kabak_20211024_130253.thumb.JPG.ab9108a076f9062ffbaacebcbee14f76.JPGof
