Todd not training? WTF is going on?

From bitter experience I know that if someone close to you is on their deathbed, then life pretty much stops. Strange he went to the NFL match.

Nah, no uniform way people deal with things like that. Might have been your experience, doesn't mean it's everyone elses.

The problem is that everyone is being so cryptic, including Todd himself. It raises speculation and in the absence of information, humans tend to try and work it out/fill in the gaps.

It’s possible to put out a statement shutting it down saying something along the lines of “Todd has some personal family issues and is likely to not be available for X amount of time as agreed with the club”*. Then nobody, including Todd,  should say anything more about it. Especially not weird cryptic clues on Instagram.

*Just an example but you can something vaguely similar for most events.

Having read the article it is a simple statement of fact.

Press photographers invited to take pics of the light session before team travels to London.

They have factually (I assume as wasnt there myself!) stated that Todd wasnt involved. They have said nothing more on his absence. I see nothing wrong with that, certainly in the absence of anything 'sensitive' being released by the club.

Come off it. We all know said reporters are under the thumb of you know who and they have gone out of their way to highlight his absence from training. There are things going on here.

No, we don't all know that.

Who says they are. The hand may well be feeding them here for all we know.

i thought a few weeks back he was having private / Family / personal problems

then he came back last week after international break and trained he was in the video posted

then he was available against Brighton but not selected

he stated he was not injured on twitter

so unless he is having personal / family problems again i thought he would be training ??

If this is a mental health issue (and let's make one thing bloody clear, I hope it isn't, but you never know) then let's hope Todd gets the help he needs.

Exactly - We dont know why Todd was out previously, Why he isnt training, and we dont know who instigated the story from the press?

Are they usually allowed in for photos before an away game? maybe that was the intention.

As per the OP - lots of questions are unanswered.

Article says -

Cantwell wasn't involved in the squad for Saturday's 0-0 home draw with Brighton despite head coach Daniel Farke stating that the attacking midfielder had been training fully in the days before the game, after dealing with a sore Achilles heel.

The 23-year-old hasn't played for over a month, initially missing two games due to personal issues and then the 0-0 draw at Burnley ahead of the international break.

Farke explained after the draw with the Seagulls that he had just chosen Kieran Dowell ahead of Cantwell on the bench as they were similar players, with the Canaries academy product confirming on his Instagram earlier this week that he wasn't injured.

I think that should apply what ever the issue is, mental physical, family, whatever.

Funny how the club are still stretching out the silence on this one. I think they forget the bread and butter which is the supporters.

I am not saying they have to reveal the nittygritty on player 's absences but we need Todd in the team and the longer this goes on, the impatience and intolerance increases and speculation magnifies.

Cantwell also hasn't tweeted since the 5th September, so don't know where @norfolkngood is getting that particular one from

Exactly - and if he is having some issues again, which means he is granted leave, he shouldn't, in my opinion, be what I would call overly socialising and posting it on the socials.

His car was parked on St Giles today on the double yellows. Really messed my day up as I was getting a skip delivered. I was running up and down the street trying to find the owner of the car and someone told me it was Toddy. Low and behold his car on instagram.

To be fair no, he was parallel but entirely on double yellows. Great footballer, but not keen on his choice in parking spots.

Fair comment, would say that they can be combined or interlinked too.

Without doubt, one of our most talented players, and probably one of only a handful who is genuinely Premier League quality.  I would guess he’s probably one of the highest earners in the squad and presumably his salary is still being paid during this prolonged absence.  I doubt many, if any, of us on here really know what the truth of what’s going on with him, but it’s fair to say he’s been pretty high maintenance for as long as he’s been playing (or not) for the Club.  I suspect he sees his future elsewhere and I wonder whether DF may be digging his heels in to block any move away rather than accepting that perhaps it would be best for all concerned if he went.

Think skipping would put just as much pressure on his calf.

When did we become so entitled that we think need to know every detail of someone's problems?

No one has asked for every detail , but he is, in some's eyes, our best player, we are bottom of the league so either need him playing at his best, or to understand in general terms why he isn't available.

Ok, let’s create a scenario:

You have an employee. They come to you and explain that they’re having mental health issues, have been feeling really low and feel they need a break. Being a compassionate boss, you say, “Ok, Todd. Take a couple of weeks off, take some time for yourself and try and get yourself back on track.”

Todd then decides to have a pleasant evening out and attend a big sporting event. Things he enjoys, things that will lift his mood.

That would be a good thing, right?

Or are you saying “If you’re well enough to go to xyz then you need to get back to work sharpish, sonny!”?

That would be appalling management of a delicate situation.
