JB 115 Posted October 7, 2021 You see this new Newcastle ownership, and others in the list and you wonder how they can possibly pass any test the premier league is supposed to have in place. Legitimate ownerships my codling.

Google Bot 3,256 Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) Interestingly is Delia the only female on that list? That's another morality point on the board, wonder if we can trade 10 in for a billion if we save them up? One other thing, with financial fair play in effect, there must come a point where the difference between all these multi-billionaires is negligible right? Or are we a long way of that being the truth? Yellow Wal 314 Posted October 7, 2021 Not only can the richest clubs buy players so other clubs cannot have them, they can also buy any youngster with any sign of ability and loan them out to other clubs to see if they make it. They can also pack their benches with players would would walk into any team in the bottom half of the table. As long as the players get a seat on that bench they seem happy. How long before that is expanded to eleven players to keep a few more of them 'happy'? Obscene wages where players earn more in one week than you do in ten years. But the Premiership encourages them, they want the best players in their league. Financial fair play will do nothing. The only way to get away from this is bring in rules that are meaningful and restrict the money being invested and ruining the game more than it has already. What changes would you like?

Obviously you have your agenda here, but these owners here are generally the successful overseas ones, so it obviously doesn't include the dozens and dozens of failed overseas owners that are either languishing in the EFL or who have given up and sold their club on to the next chancer. It has already impacted on the amount spent by Man City and Liverpool plus it was the main reason that Tuchel at Chelsea had only a limited amount to spend and they sold so many players this summer. It will take a while, but that will feed down eventually. The problem is it is quite easy to maintain turnover at a high level by entering into "friendly" contracts - especially sponsorships and "associations". To be fair, we have done that a lot over recent years too but at a much lower level. Newcastle think they will buy their way to success but it isn't that simple anymore. You can't just sign a £100m shirt sponsorship deal when your turnover is £152m. and your current deal is for £6.5m. Same problem for Norwich - even with a billionaire owner, FFP would severely limit our ability to pay high transfer fees and wages. All those out there demanding ownership change have never actually addressed this issue, but let's not let facts get in the way of a good scapegoating.. It’s a good point but even ignoring the failing / less successful owners, how many from the OP would you actually take? It’s honestly not many for me; Leicester, Brighton and Man City probably the standouts, the rest have their flaws. I’m not sure I’d ‘trade’ off Delia for anyone else, hell I’m not even sure if I’d trade her for those 3 - but as a succession plan to D&M they’d be my picks. This is the problem, eventually can be a very long time, and by then new ways of getting around the rules will be found. This is why more stringent rules must be enforced to make it more of an even playing field for all.

What changes would you like?  I would remove the EPPP. This is the way the big clubs can take youth players from other clubs and only have to pay out according to a formula. This is what lets the man City and Chelsea of this world, grab good young players, store them, loan them to championship clubs to see if they are good enough for them and if not sell for a huge profit. Its a money making machine and the smaller clubs lose out.

Christoph Stiepermann 1,131 Posted October 7, 2021 We'd be in L1 if that always correlated to league position. It shows how well we're doing but we don't have any kind of safety net incase we have a bad few seasons. All it will take is a couple of bad management appointments, a a couple of bad windows and a gap in producing a sale ble young player and we'll be relying on just commercial income and Championship prize money and we'll be in or fighting against dropping to L1. That's a scary situation. If we keep getting manager appointments right and keep up or record of finding 20+ goal a season strikers at Championship level indefinitely then we'll continue to over perform, but I do worry about the future because no club keeps getting it right all the time.

First Wazzock 902 Posted October 7, 2021 When I see all this old $hit it makes me realise that I'm nearly done with football. You might as well just have a league table of the owners wealth, forget the football totally. Although there is no guarantee that money will get you success, you aint going to get far without the cash.

Mello Yello 2,278 Posted October 8, 2021 Just a thought....If and when our majority shareholding duo eventually do hand over their tightly gripped reins to Nephew Tom - and he says after much regular abusive shouty discontent is directed towards poor him from even the Religiously Yellow and the once loyal disciples....all coupled with failing to maintain and produce regular 'little diamond soccer sell on stars' including a poor couple o' torrid seasons and some relegation's....Tom then sez,  "Roight sod this" and relinquishes his position as head honcho, then selling our club to the highest bidder (who just happens to be a Saudi 'Sheikh Shedloadsashekel').....I assume then, that those virtue signalling and permanently outraged on this forum, will immediately curtail their support of all things NCFC and refuse to ever set foot again inside Casbah Carrow Road?.... Maybe those outraged on occasion will also take a stance and as a protest will glue their hands to the stadium club shop windows to highlight their immense distaste of the middle east monsters that have with their unwanted finance, fouled their family friendly football club?......
Thumbbass 318 Posted October 8, 2021 I think a more telling stat would be the amount of money each is taking/investing in the respective clubs. All very well having a filthy rich (Chinese/Russian/Yank Pension fund) owner if all they are doing is laundering their cash or taking operating profits and not putting anything into the club.
