Interesting and surely pushes Adams into the position of favourite to succeed Webber if he leaves as planned.

Possibly, also may be that he can provide some continuity if a new man comes in.

Possibly, not sure he has the ruthless cutting edge that Webber appears to posses.

Also possible- it feels a bit like an apprenticeship though. Fingers crossed for Adams.

A lovely article stating the screamingly obvious analysis from Dave Freezer in the paper today on the subject

That's how I'd see it too, keeping a faithful middleman* in the system basically.  If Webber leaves as planned, or comes under fire then Adams can still remain in position, allowing someone new to come in with some familiarity/stability.

I don't think the club would risk pushing Adams to the front again, as he's too experienced and valuable here behind the scenes (imo).  Which is really important when you're establishing a succession of youth development, he can keep that fine detail going between studying incomings and our outgoing loanees.

If this is a move by Webber himself, then hats off to him.  Really hope season turns round enough to convince him that there's more to achieve here, personally.

*Shirt and tie version of Oli Skipp? 🙂

Good move. Adams is clearly highly rated behind the scenes and has been for some time. I like this. Hopefully not a successor to Webber however as I fear he may not be cut throat enough. Excellent cover however if (when) a transition occurs.

I doubt that. But it would help whoever Webber's successor is to bed in.

Just seen that Badger has said something similar. Should have read the whole of the thread.

Did Andy Hughes sign for just one season? 🤔😜

He was always used to running around a lot in his playing days. A (hard working midfield) Loans Manager role will suit him 😀

Hughes used to divide his time clapping, losing the ball and assaulting fans. The loan system is a bit of a mess at the moment. It's used for either getting rid of mistake buys or disrupting the progress of promising players.

Loans can provide a platform for young players to show what they can do.

Ask Godfrey and Cantwell.

People already knew what Maddison could do, but his time in Aberdeen made him realise he needed to come back and knuckle down in Norwich to break through.

How is Neil Adams being lined up as Stuart Webber's successor the slightest bit positive you happy clapping lunatics.

League One here we come.

The article clearly says: Webber and Adams share a positive relationship and the decision * isn't * viewed as a step up in contingency planning for when the Welshman elects to depart the club!

Very interesting appointment. Does this mean Webber is definitely leaving and Adams will be a stop gap? Frees Webber to do other things, like finding a replacement for Farke? Get the feeling we're heading for a period of change!

I would be amazed if Adams were to be a permanent replacement for Webber.

Doesn't take a genius to workout where this is heading.

The club slowly slipping back into its ways. It'll be some cheap option manager coming after Farke too, "because he once played for us so must be a good fit"

Interesting that Hughes is pursuing a career with the club after what happened at the end of his playing days with the club.  If there is any criticism of him at public meetings, hope he keeps his cool.

Oh come off it.

You think the club are going to come out and say "Adams will take over when Webber leaves at the end of the season, as he has decided not to renew his contract", are you really that naive.

Pair of jokers!

Why on earth would that amaze you?

They gave him a Premier League managers job 😁

We missed him when he left and was replaced by Mark Fotheringham.

Hughes looked like Steven Gerrard compared to that waste of space.
