Now Off To Bookies

I once bet a huge sum (to me) on Robert Lewandowski scoring the first goal for Poland against Scotland at Hampden. It was the longest 2 minutes of my life and I'll never do it again. Thanks though to Russ Martin who was playing centre half for Scotland 🙄

It paid for my daughter's wedding. Her divorce has just been finalised

For what it's worth, I used to be a manager of a high street betting shop and whilst they'd never accept even a small fraction of £60k on a single on a horse or some obscure match from the Icelandic second division, I reckon they'd probably accept it on a Premier League football match (although it would have to be approved by the trading team first, of course).

Not that anyone would ever do such a thing, of course, as the prices would always be better online.

There's is (or was) a reason why people staked £70k in shop rather than online.

Well, true, but those people generally used the FOBTs as there was less human interaction.

And Vince was clearly implying that he was simply trying to make money.

Sorry, I genuinely have no idea what this mean.

Tinpot county lines gangsters used to use the FOBTs, really blatant about it too. Load up a grand or two, have one 20p spin then print the ticket out, bring it to the counter, take a photo on their phone of their "winnings" and voila! Clean money. Always used to kick off when we banned them too. ****.

To the Police its clean.

Its unreal, all they care about is the value of the returns, not that they've had £10k on a 1/10 shot and the £10k was dirty.

Same with fraud, fraudsters are untouchable, our only deterrent is asking them to leave.

Fair enough, but the desire for anonymity and the act of money laundering are quite similar. Generally money launderers would use the FOBTs as they think it's completely anonymous, although it isn't as the staff can see exactly what they're doing.

The company I worked for actually actually had an alert pop up when a customer printed a ticket before playing through all the money that was entered into the system. I personally don't know any staff member who ever actually reported it though; I personally had no desire to get involved in grassing up known drug dealers, especially when they had previous convictions for drug dealing and violent crimes.

I am now off to the bookies to collect my 4/7 winnings on the Everton game.

Quite a tidy six-figure sum since I staked everything on the outcome.

No bookie would lay you to win that sort of money mate.

Its hard enough to get a oner on these days.

(I definitely feel a bit inadequate with the level of my stakes now😂

If you only feel inadequate due to the amount of your bets you have cracked life! Well done 😊

I wonder what odd you would get on a Norwich win next saturday

I would expect at least 40/1

You could always go to betfair and offer those odds as you feel it is an absoloute certainty, but I will bet you won’t as you are all mouth.
