Team v Everton

Given that Todd won't be playing I would start with:

Krul

Aarons Andrew Kabak Williams

Normann PLM

Sargent Dowell Tzolis

Pukki

Think I would try to shore up the defensive play a bit more. How about:

                         Krul

Aarons obamadellie Gibson williams

dowell Normann sorenson tzolis

                 Sargent Pukki

Krul

Aarons Hanley Kabak Williams

Gilmour Normann Lees-Melou

Dowell Pukki Sargent

Id stick with 433 and play what I think Farke thinks is his strongest 11 at this point. I think we have only seen this for 60 mins and if we built a window on it it needs time for players and formation to work. Mainly because I don’t believe another formation would do wildly differently.

The longer a player doesn't play the better he gets. Dowell has produced very few performances where he has warranted a place in the team, when given the chance against Arsenal he was poor. Give it another week or two without Idah playing and people will be calling for him again.

How many naturally left sided centre backs have we? Gibson is the only one I believe. Hanley usually moves over if Big Andy plays. He moved over for Kabak against Watford.  So perhaps the centre backs depend on who trained better and looks sharpest?

There are so many combinations for centre back I wouldn't be surprised at any.

So:

Krul

Aarons Centre back Centre back Giannoulis

McLean Normann

Gilmour Sargent Tzolis

Pukki

And as above I fully agree with going back to 4 2 3 1.

I’d go with that but Sargent I’m for Dowell

I’d go for that but Sargent in for Dowell to offer bit more strength and fight, also think him and Pukki could make a good partnership

Same, plus Sorenson in for McLean, might free Normann up for some more attacking passes and McLean deserves to be dropped after last weekend. Although this formation is what he's used to so might see an improvement.

I'd like

Krul

Aarons Omo Kabak Giannoulis

Sorenson Normann

Rashica Sargent Tzolis

Pukki

We need to get the Gian/Tzol & Rash/Sargent partnerships going. However, I can't see Farke playing Sorenson, so expect Mclean to partner Normann instead

The constant clamour for sorenson is pathetic and typical of the total lack of knowledge, and even having eyes and a brain, displayed so often here.

The guy is slow, not sharp enough, and simply lacklustre.

The clue is in farke not even benching him....

After what Farke was saying about Hanley at the news conference I cannot see him not playing him together with Kabak hopefully

Likewise Sargent. I suspect he will stick with 351 to accommodate Maclean too.

Krul, Aarons, Kabak, Hanley, Gibson, Williams, Normann, Maclean, Rashica, Sargent, Pukki

Cheers for this, never knew about it. No more sweating over how to spell Omobamidele.

Clog the midfield for 75mins, protect the full backs, try not to concede and introduce width/guile to try and nick it at the end or grab an equaliser. And yes, I am selecting Rupp to start for early solidity!

                             Krul

Aarons     Hanley     Kabak     Giannoulis

  Rupp     PLM     Normann     McLean

                          Sargent

                            Pukki

Tzolis, Gilmour/Rashica & Idah off the bench when the game opens up after we (hopefully) haven't conceded. The game is winnable, I'd take a 0-0 at this stage; we could also get beaten 3-0! My prediction is 1-1 to get the season up & running.

Why is it pathetic. You clearly know more than most on this forum?

When was he not benched, against Watford I recall he was injured, and he was on the bench against Liverpool.

Hmm...knowledge...hmm

Please explain, therefore, why he was not sold in the summer?

Persevering with a back 3 which is fine and probably a sensible choice of players.

The 2 up front is what we would like but its the middle 5 that I find odd.

Normann seems to be the defensive one but who is the 'playmaker' or 'number 10'.I really can't see McLean or PLM being that man
