Yellowhammer 86 Posted September 22, 2021 Brighton, wolves, Leicester,Southampton, and palace, Are just some of the teams that have gone up and established themselves for more than one season in the top league . Why can’t we do that I remember Southampton in division one looking like they were going nowhere and now that are established in the premiership. Is it just down to investment by rich owners ? Dean Coneys boots 1,398 Posted September 22, 2021 Pretty much - you certainly need a business plan that allows for premiership wages and transfer fees. We don’t have that - hence the struggle

I believe the average today for an established player is upwards of £20 million in transfer and wages far in excess of what we pay.

Hasn’t the club said themselves that we cannot compete on the same level financially in the PL under our self funded model. Why is there need for further proof that our wage budget will be amongst the bottom 3? Would it be fairer for someone disagreeing with that statement to provide proof as to why it’s wrong as it’s a pretty wide held and accepted belief.

AJ 1,218 Posted September 22, 2021 Confidence, that's the biggest thing. And watching the net bulge after 4 minutes last night, you could see what little was left get drained away fairly sharply. The lads just need to get their heads down and battle back into the game, but too much sideways and backwards passing isn't going to get you goals.
