Why can’t we do this

Recommended Posts

Brighton, wolves, Leicester,Southampton, and palace, Are just some of the teams that have gone up and established themselves for more than one season in the top league . Why can’t we do that I remember Southampton in division one looking like they were going nowhere and now that are established in the premiership. Is it just down to investment by rich owners ?

The only way that Norwich city will stay in the premier league is change the owners and manager but this will never happen.

You read it here first - Delia and Michael are going to own Norwich City until the end of time and Daniel Farke is going to be our manager until the end of time. 🤣🤦‍♂️

Pretty much - you certainly need a business plan that allows for premiership wages and transfer fees. We don’t have that - hence the struggle

So please elucidate - what is a budget for transfers + wages (approximately) and how does ours compare to Brentford and Watford who came up with us?

Do you know? Do you have any evidence that supports this?

Why purchase a tool box with a decent selection of varied an' quality sized spanners, when a dozen or so rusty adjustable wrenches an' spanners bought from a car-boot sale will hopefully do?.....

Well we might look at the money villa paid for emi- who is now bench warming as a guide. Or else what Brentford spent on Ajer. I believe the average today for an established player is upwards of £20 million in transfer and wages far in excess of what we pay.

Yeah, asking for evidence to back up a statement is really pedantic.

Would we be buying those spanners as the sellers were packing up to get decent discount?

Hasn’t the club said themselves that we cannot compete on the same level financially in the PL under our self funded model. Why is there need for further proof that our wage budget will be amongst the bottom 3? Would it be fairer for someone disagreeing with that statement to provide proof as to why it’s wrong as it’s a pretty wide held and accepted belief.

Well Delia and Michael may well do so through their proxy nephew Tom and the trust holding their majority share holding. 😱

Confidence, that's the biggest thing. And watching the net bulge after 4 minutes last night, you could see what little was left get drained away fairly sharply.

The lads just need to get their heads down and battle back into the game, but too much sideways and backwards passing isn't going to get you goals.

This is a daft OP. If you want to play bingo with similar sized clubs who are above us via those below us - or who have had more Premier League seasons in the past 10 wins, i'm going to win.

I wonder if when the club hierarchy have boarded the executive jet at Norwich international to fly them to Scouseland and back this weekend. As they take their plush seats and get airborne, do they then discuss things like 'Right people, as our finances are evidently tight, on what club non-essentials do you all suggest we can save our ickle community self-funding football club a few quid?'....."Anyone?"...."Anyone?"....

I've never met Tom Smith, but I know people that have. I wouldn't necessarily assume that he has the same views about ownership of our club as Delia and Michael.

You couldn't be more right there AJ !
It's not just the money... it's the right frame of mind and the kick up the ar$e or the pat on the back you get from the coach who is good at motivating his players or giving them a hiding when they're due one!

We've had a manager or two that were good at that part and they did keep us up a few seasons...

I suppose it's just a little too much to expect you to interrupt your pleasure at slagging the club off and doing as Badger requested by providing the evidence for your claims. So let me reproduce the facts instead:

That only proves that after two promotions and huge recent player sales (let us not forget the risible spend last time round) we finally opened the purse a bit and didn’t end up much better.

We purchased a lot of lower quality priced players rather than a few decent priced ones- largely because we failed to get income for a large number of others we signed badly- such as drmic et al. Nothing you posted here provides evidence that our wage structure is competitive or our individual fees per player
