If only she could play CDM!

Seriously though, what an achievement as you say LDC.

Says a lot for grass roots tennis too.

What a sports story this is.  Only qualifier ever to get to a major final in the history of tennis. Sensational tennis player, the complete package at 18.

Ivanisevic (?) Wimbledon final, or was he wildcard entrant?

She's been amazing. Really looking forward to the final on Saturday - hopefully a double celebration after our win.

I thought he was a wildcard entrant.

I can’t believe no-one’s asked how this is NCFC related yet? Move it to the Non-football forum please Pete!

She's got everything. I think she's going to be one of the most recognisable sportspeople on the planet within the next few years. It'd be churlish not to put a shout out for Leyla Fernandez too, though... will be interesting to see them feed off each other and see who can achieve the most.

Early nomination for (young - if they still have that category?) sports personality of the year.

Whilst im thinking of it - I guess England Football will get team of the year too.

Absolutely superb young player, and clearly got a good team around her after what happened at Wimbledon. I believe the match is at 9pm tomorrow, I'll be cheering her on 👍

Young?? If she wins tomorrow, she'll win the main award.

Agreed Ken.

Fingers crossed she does.

Also appears to have a bit more personality that previous tennis playing SPOTY winners too.

Greg Rusedski won SPOTY just for reaching the final at the US Open and that was far less of a story given his ranking.

Raducanu is currently 4/6 with SkyBet to win SPOTY. She's marginally shorter at 8/13 to win the tennis.

Have to go a long way to usurp Becker in 1985 - 17 years old and unseeded, can't speak to whether he qualified or not..., at the risk of being sexist, I'd say the challenge to win the mens singles at that age is more difficult. Obviously doesn't detract from this Radacanu's story 🙂

She's the first player, male or female, to reach a Slam final having come through qualifying.

And she's yet to lose a set at this tournament. Nuts, really.

I smiled at the Express ranting about migrants on one side of the front page and cheering her on the other side.

Not a big tennis fan but well done to her and good luck for the final.

So many young people excelling at sport across the world. Her opponent in the final is only 19! It's great to see.

No reason why our young footballers Idah, Tzolis and Omobamidele can't excel too. If you're good enough, you're old enough.
