The Real Buh 3,765 Posted August 28, 2021 We can beat a team, we can score a goal or two but we will never, ever be able to beat this league. It’s a joke from top to bottom. Filled with teams owned and bankrolled by international criminals. Faster and more technical than the game has ever been but with referees that are slower and more mentally ill than they’ve ever been. You need to tear yourself to pieces for a look in at a possibility of a point and if you go a goal up I’m convinced a situation will be created to take the points from us. The last three games have been a perfect metaphor that a European superleague HAS to happen. Creating our own brand of football and letting the bigger teams go and join a financial bubble is the only way we get out of this purgatory.

Christoph Stiepermann 1,261 Posted August 28, 2021 I say become a team that everyone else hates. we can still play our style but we need to be aggressive and dirty off the ball, make teams afraid to come at us, we also need to make the referee's life a living hell every game like teams like Chelsea do. Fight, scrap and battle and earn the right to play...then play our usual game. Would be nice if opposition teams and managers hate us as well like they hate Burnley. We can't compete financially so lets properly upset the apple cart and kick up a storm. I want to see Hanley leaving elbows in, I want shirt pulling and dirty tackles when an opposition players beats us, I want studs left down the shins of opposition flair players. We were great at this under Lambert with nasty, dirty players like Holt and Morrison and we all loved their passion and how much they wound the opposition up. Teams always knew we were up for a fight which is why teams sometimes didn't turn up against us, now they know we play nice, they can play neat technical football against us and release their small pacy players because they know we won't engage physically. This has got to change, I don't want to hear managers like Klopp and Guardola praising us anymore either, i want them to hate the prospect of playing us. This is how we bridge the gap, sadly though I think our players are just a bit too nice and this will never happen. it's a shame because we have some great players, we just need some nasty B******s to do the hard work to let them play.
Besthorpe-48 114 Posted August 28, 2021 I thought just imagine what it must be like to be a life long tottenham fan at this moment. Then I looked at the relegation zone in league one. Enjoy the next 35 games and maybe more.
Canary Jedi 610 Posted August 28, 2021 Know what you mean, old Holty was fabulous at the dirty stuff, shame the knowledge was not passed on. it’s all about fine margins and sometimes winding up the opposition pays dividends. Sargent looks like he might have the strength to make his presence known.

All set up to help the big teams and penalise the smaller teams European Superleague when?

If you get a reputation for being a physical team then refs get more lenient because they know they can't send 3 players off a game. Likewise as a non-physical team we get punished for the slightest touch or push because ref's assume we must have fouled the much bigger player for him to go down. I'm not saying be thugs or cause injuries. Just battle, scrap and be a nightmare to play against. If a team isn't full of confidence or in good form they will dread playing us and we would have beaten them mentally before a ball is kicked.

We definitely need to be more aggressive but the minute we look at a player the wrong way match of the day will do a 40 minute feature on us bringing the experience down for the rest of the league you just know it

I will check that out thank you. Love me some sports comedies. I'm not wrong though am i? Right now we're the team every out of form team would love to play to get back into their groove, we don't fight, we try to out pass better teams than us and we stand off when we defend. I can't imagine they would be excited at the prospect of playing Burnley or Watford and I don't think opposition managers would be damning those teams with faint praise either. I'd love it if we were hated, if MOTD did a featurette on how physical we are. I want our club to be respected not liked.

Totally agree. Leicester today had all the tricks/delaying tactics/serial fouling which is part and parcel of winning, let alone survival in the jungle which is the EPL. If we dont wise up and do the same we'll be back where most people seem to believe we should be!!🔰

If we dont wise up and do the same we'll be back where most people seem to believe we should be!!🔰 Spot on. The number of times a blue shirt went down 'off the ball' was really noticeable. The game duly got stopped and any momentum we may have been building simply evaporated. I would prefer us not to play like that but unless we get a lot more physical like Christoph says, I predict we will go straight down (again) and this time may not even get up to the miserable 21 points of before! The real test will be the four games after Arsenal (Watford and Brighton at home and Everton, Burnley away). We need nine points from them just to get to a 'point a game' (just over in fact). THREE wins now looks increasingly remote I'm afraid.

Players like Holt and Morison knew how to play the game and bully teams. We don't have any player doing that and every team needs a few The problem is I'm not sure Farke believes in that style of football.
