I too didn't realise that Cheltenham were even in the league. It's looking again like a very long season for them.

However, It's been said and demonstrated many, many times over the years that their core support are simply pathetically apathetic to the situation. That they will accept any spin handed out, as long as you mention a past achievement from 40-50 years ago is comically baffling. You couldn't make it up.

It is a pretty seriously sad state, yet despite some half wit turning up with a flare at training during school hours, they never properly vent their feelings on the issues as a group.

I wonder if the new owners were briefed by Evans on how soft the ride wold be if things didn't pan out as expected?

Peterborough are our rivals now.

I would say nearest geographical rivals. Not really in East Anglia though so... we just don't really have any do we? And haven't done for the best part of 20 years. No other teams are close now. Even one season in the same division has been beaten by them.

Typical binner, doesn't even know what's going on in their own league 😂

Wednesday are on 7 points currently. 2 wins and a draw.

@East Rider and @BroadstairsR They’ve been in the league since the 1999/00 season! They dropped out in 2014/15 but came straight back up the next season. You’ve obviously forgotten that we’ve actually played them in the League Cup twice (3 times actually, as the first time was still a 2 leg tie)-1999/00 and 02/03 seasons. They beat us 3-0 at Carrow Road in 02/03.

Was in the Barclay for one of those cup games, their fans were great (who can forget “We all come from Cheltenhamshire & we can drive a tractor”, trading anti Ippo & anti Gloucester songs etc.) and got big love from us at the end. Their support being the Robins on top of a fairly routine home victory, iirc. Here endeth the lesson.

Apparently CTFC are the Robins, not the Cherries.

My opening line was 'tongue in cheek', let's hope they have a great season (Cheltenham not the binners)

For a while they were my go to team when I wanted to play Football Manager as a lower league team (Cheltenham, not the binners 🤣). In fact it was when their current manager, Michael Duff was playing for them before he moved to Burnley.

My friend's son is a season ticket holder at Cheltenham, and he said it was a great game, which kinda makes it sweeter, that 1p5wich contributed to a good game, but came away with nothing.

The problem isn't the manager or players really. There is a malaise around that club that they just can't seem to lift. The reason is because they are stuck in the past and expect to be a top tier team just because they were in the black and white times. Portman Road is genuinely the quietest ground I've ever been to as a neutral, that isn't me being biased as a fan, except when we turn up it's a truely miserable place.

What they need is leadership who can convince them to get over the past, accept that they're a 3rd division club and get expectations set accordingly. Everytime they lose the ball it's a groan, every time they're 3rd division striker on about 5k per week misses a chance they'll get on his back. The leadership structure doesn't help either by pandering to the fans they just serve to remind the players that they're not good enough.

I felt as a fanbase we were great with this when we found ourselves in L1. No moping about or bemoaning that Chris Martin wasn't as good as Chris Sutton used to be. We got over it, sold out every home game and got well behind the team with very little of that we're too big of a club to be here sort of mentality, that support from the crowd was part of the magic that caused the Lambert era to go so well.

3rd division may seem in doubt the way they are going.
