So are we allowed to laugh at Villa?

Recommended Posts

Where I live, it is mostly villa fans and the consensus (from the ones I know) is that they just want it over. Have been told at work that Cantwell isn’t worth £40m and I agreed and responded with grealish isn’t worth £100m and none of them could argue

Difference is Grealish has gone to win things at Man City , Buendia will win f*ck all at Villa and only went for the money.

Felt that it was odd then that he threw his lot in and scurried off to Villa at the earliest opportnity this summer, and that was before they sold their best player/captain

Could/should have gone somewhere better

Looks like he jumped ship a bit early in the window. Certainly Villa sans Grealish is not the greatest prospect. Reinforces all the Webber talk about holding your nerve on the incomings, but it has to be acknowledged he didn't get any other offers.

Or he knew grealish was going and thought he would be the star player…for a LOT of money, rather than possibly onthe bench elsewhere

Oh here we go again.  We get other players in and others will step up. It's called evolution.

Well they've just signed Danny Ings from Southampton. So any laughing at them is fairly short lived given they've just signed a striker capable of 20 a season.

Have they? This morning I read a column saying he was going to Spurs...

Now I know you think we’re after a Champions league place and bag a cup but selling Cantwell won’t help achieve that. That’s happy clapping at its best.

If the money talk is to be believed, a lot better off if we can invest it in solid replacements.

Lets see how many red cards Emi gets when PL players realise he has a short fuse and lets see how many times Todd passes to an opposition player. Those traits from both those players have left me exasperated beyond belief. (Almost akin to bowling no balls in the 100!)

Why do people always say this when players move to bigger clubs? The mind boggles.

Anyway, Villa have just signed Danny Ings for £30m, which has come out of nowhere. So that's Buendia for £33m, Bailey for £30m, Ings for £30m and probably one more to come with the Grealish money.

It will be interesting to see how they fit both Ings and Watkins into their plans.

I think Villa are going to surprise a lot of people this season.

Their signings, including Ings a couple of minutes ago, have been very astute.

You dont think trebling+ his wages had anything to do with it

30 million on a 29 year old who can score but has spent more time on the injury list than playing is an odd one.

Then again given they have the Grealish money every club is going to rinse them for all they can get

Season starts for us quite soon, it won’t be easy bedding new players in after a couple of training sessions.

Wow, didn't see that coming. I honestly think Grealish is a touch overhyped so Buendia, Watkins, Ings and Bailey, with a potential £100m banked to spend looks pretty good.

If they are paying £30m for an injury-prone striker who is 29 (who albeit can score goals) then maybe £40m for a 23yr old, non-injury prone midfielder isn't so ridiculous after all.

Really hope Webber fleeces them - 75 at least for both Buendia and Cantwell

Not sure if its classed as sporting or not. But boy, seeing them all cry about 'losing our best player'

Think 'now you know what it feels like' sums it up well

They've spent a lot of money now, getting 3 players to fill 1 players void. Emi, Bailey and now ings. Jesus I don't feel they've had it too bad the thick c..ts

How surprising is that though?

You spend £35m on Buendia, £30m on Bailey, however much Ings has cost (have seen on twitter figures of £30m bandied around) and expected to spend £50m more at least - isn't surprise replaced by expectation?

Which is possibly why Villa bought players before the Grealish deal was announced...
