England Vs Italy

Southgate back to fraud status then?

Both pen takers you bring on miss, and you get the youngest least experenced player who has arugebly bee the worst player for England this match to take the winning one? Really?

Gutted. Southgate probably trying to be too clever there with the subs, both his specialists miss.

Feel terrible for Saka.

Of course not you moron. Not everyone is either brilliant or a fraud.

Poor old Rashford and Sancho. Hardly played and then asked to win it from the pressure of penalties. Bad management. Where was Sterling or Stones?

Better team won that game. England were excellent in the first 35, but then Italy got back into it near half-time, not only got a deserved equaliser but had England on the ropes near the end of normal time. Extra time was a bit more even with Italy edging it until the last ten when it was level to England edging it.

I just hope none of the media muppets start looking for scapegoats amongst the penalty-takers. Takes guts to go there. No shame in falling at the last like that.

Would have been a master stroke if they had scored but I agree with you, not in the game then having to do that.

Yeah think that's fair. We tried to sit on a 1-0 lead which was an error and then got too clever with the subs- maybe give Sancho a decent chunk of time to actually play rather than just to take a pen.

Can’t understand why Henderson goes off with his experience you’d expect him to take one. What about Sterling and Shaw. Instead we have two players who haven’t kicked the ball and a 19 year old kid.

Once again penalties prove our nemesis. We were in trouble once we sat back against a superb Italian team. Hopefully our younger players will learn from this experience. On the night Mount and Saka were poor and Harry Kane has had a generally below par tournament for his usual standard of performance.

Our boys have done well to reach our first Euros final and there is some consolation to be had in that.

BREAKING NEWS: Italy become the first country to win Eurovision Song Contest and the European Championships in the same year. It's the sort of thing that only Hollywood could come up with.

Radhford and Sancho I understand from the players they are, although their penalties were both ****. But you usually finish with your second strongest penalty taker right? I was expecting Grealish or Sterling, not putting the biggest pressure kick of the tournament on one of the absolute youngsters.

Bringing on players for pens with 2 mins to go...No part of the game, then turn it on... Not great game management.

I always hate penalties. Always seems to be a matter of luck in it.

Overall, Italians better team. Deserved it.

We've.done well, much better than originally expected. Onwards and upwards. World Cup!

I always want England to win, but everytime I get to laugh. Poor penalties.no ideas in the final third once the opposition start playing. Beaten by first decent team they come across.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Tbh by far the better side won - we were bang average after about 30 min….all with fantastic players on the bench who didn’t get a kick.  Ridiculous not to try to win.

Didn't Henderson take the ball off Calvert lewin, and then miss in one of the friendlies.

I think England got pushed back. Italy got their press going properly 35 minutes in and England were shunted onto the back foot after that as they really struggled to keep possession and draw the sting out of the Italians.

Ability in possession has been a consistent weak link of England teams for decades (one of my favourite football books, Left Foot In The Grave, by Garry Nelson, made this point back when it was written in 1997), but they have been improving with better technical players in the last decade or two.

They're still more than young enough to come back.

It’s all Brexits fault

Its all Boris’s fault

its all about Sports Funding

if smarmy was in charge we would have been 10-0 up at half time

Luckily, NCFC are in the mix again in the EPL... moved on and nothing to see

Worst part is he had the keeper going the wrong way, just had to lightly tap it in

Doesn't that make it worse, keeper already beat, only had to score and he couldn't do that.

Yes but a penalty shootout is about nerves and experienced. You could say didn’t Kane miss one in the semi final!
