Seems like the Tories don't want football to come home

Not sure I agree - it is a group that I belong to, so it is only natural that I take pride in its achievements. The corollary though, is that sometimes I feel ashamed of some of the things it has done as well. Shame is the other side of the same coin with pride on the other side.

I feel exactly the same with Norwich and happily show people who visit me around the City pointing out all the places of historical and cultural interest.

Pride's just totally the wrong word for me there. Sure, I'm probably pleased for them, but the whole idea of being - proud - looks several steps further on for me.

No - I am proud of my City and like to show people who don't know it the best and most interesting bits!

Yeah, this comes back to my first point and is why we're seeing this radically differently, I find pride to be only fitting for personal achievements.

Then again, I've always found pride in a country to be silly. Talk about fluffing yourself up with someone else's feathers.

Very true @TheGunnShow, the government now seems to have gone strangely quiet on encouraging the fans to boo the team taking the knee and the MP boycott.

I know, it's almost as if they're being a set of opportunistic w-ankers again, right?

On a slightly different note, I find it disappointing that our fans-possibly other countries do it too-are still booing the opposing team’s national anthem. It’s difficult to tell exactly how many were booing last night but it seemed to be quite loud.

It is completely incomprehensible that people are so disrespectful. Why does a country's anthem awaken a darker side to some of our fans? I thought we had moved on from this but maybe Brexit has opened a divide thats wider than the Channel. Which we call the English Channel even though another country has the same water lapping its shores and they call it La Manche (sleeve) not French Channel.

They'll all soon be saying that they liked Gareth all along and that he should be given a knighthood (unless we lose of course.)

I'm not sure he earns enough to pay for the prerequisite Tory party donation.

Not Football - broken stuck record - non- football

Perhaps you can drop an email to Preeti Patel, Liam Anderson, et al to let them know your view.

As opposed to encouraging the England fans to boo the team like the Home Secretary/PM and boycotting the games like some Tory MPs

I would suggest that anyone, MP or otherwise, who boycotted Wembley did so because of the current Covid situation. A wise move maybe! It might be coming home, but it has something very attached to it according to the specialists.

Lee Ashfield, Tory MP for Ashfield is refusing to watch the games on TV.

Perhaps he thinks you can catch Covid via his TV aerial?

I think you need to familiarize yourself with the actual stories. It had nothing to do with boycotting Wembley because of covid concerns, and everything to do with criticising the England players for showing solidarity with their team mates by taking the knee.

I think he wears a tinfoil hat to prevent that happening.

Perhaps we can have a whip round to buy him a nice sharp knife so that he can cut off his nose. What a pillock!

May be an image of 2 people and text that says "BACK IN MY DAY, WHEN ATHLETES TOOK Α'ΚΝΕΕ, THEY TOOK A KNEE."

I remember when the 1974 British Lions toured SA and the Government shunned them because of its stance on apartheid.

When they returned victorious, the Government greeted them at the airport.

I think the Sport Minister at the time was Denis Howell.

Many feel the same.

What a shame that our beautiful Conservative run county of Norfolk is otherwise blighted by such bitter lefties in Norwich.

I really don’t get this reference?!

Isn't it a Tonya Harding figure skating reference?

Rather witty I thought.

Its very little to do with figure skating. Rather more like hiring someone to unsuccessfully break your rivals leg.

Now you can leave.

No more than a few minutes and the possessive forum cavalry arrive.

They were skaters so perhaps you should leave?

Tory MP Lee Anderson will continue his boycott of England games over players taking the knee, telling LBC he will miss the Euro 2020 final and unpack boxes instead.
