England v Scotland

Recommended Posts

Grant Hanley is an absolute colossus when dealing with lateral balls, does make me wonder why he seems to struggle occasionally with crosses (relative to his ability at dealing with long balls) it's weird. He wins everything coming towards his box but often gets outjumped for crosses and set pieces

Kane not in the game

Sterling rubbish. Worst thing that could’ve happened is Sterling scoring last game. Meant he kept his place and he’s all wrong for this game. Not playing well enough and not the Grealish type we need. If Grealish is fit enough get him on

Has rice done anything this match other than poiting at other players? Two defensive midfielders in the middle and this is what you get. Said it before the match and I'm happy to say it again

Scotland are edging this but you get the sense this is the best they've got. They've done superbly well to stop England from playing, but you get the impression England are stuck in third gear, and Scotland are already on their fifth.

Think that was the most boring 45 mins of football so far in this tournament. Scotland doing what they need to, England seem bereft of ideas. Think the rain is the winner so far.

Grealish please. Sterling awful.

Not sure it's a great game for the neutrals but Scotland containing England well.

More tempo needed.

Whilst it was dreadful, Spain v Sweden was infinitely more boring.

Grealish on at HT is the minimum Southgate needs to be doing.

If England play the second half like they did the first, I hope Scotland beat them.

I'm enjoying the match.  Exactly what I was hoping for - Scotland really up for it and testing English resolve.  Might change in the second half, but if England don't start upping the tempo, Scotland will carry on giving them problems.

Do we need 2 holding mids vs a midfield of mcgregor gilmour and mcginn?

Surely we can sacrifice phillips or rice for grealish or rashford??

This is Southgate we are talking about, his not going to stop playing 2 holding midfielders.

Absolute rubbish. Lots of talent in the England squad but no one showing that on the pitch.

Scotland will run out of puff in the second half, questions is whether England can take their chances, the evidence so far isnt encouraging

Have we been that terrible? Scotland playing with intensity and we can still up it a gear or two for sure, but we’re grinding them down. They won’t be able to keep it up and we can step things up in the second half. Fancy us to nick one.

Fair play to Scotland though, making it very hard for us.

Agree with what others have said RE Kane and Sterling. Grealish is missed whenever he doesn’t play

Scotland not playing it quickly enough in the centre of the park, but not letting the press by England phase as much as before.
