This is far worse than BK8

That, though, is to imply there are no shades of grey around the subject. I, for example, am not categorically against gambling sponsorship in sport, just as I am not against alcohol sponsorship. What I am against, though, is sexualisation and objectivisation for women, and the effect that has upon the reputation of our club.

I would wager that the vast majority of people belittling this situation are white British, heterosexual, able-bodied males who have never experienced direct discrimination in their lives. I fall into that category myself, but that doesn't stop me from considering the impact that such things could have on the lives of others who fit into different categories. The one thing that binds us all is a love of this club, so can we not take a moment to look at it from the perspective of others?

Or, in the words of Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird (and this quote was repeated to me ad nauseam as a child): “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view – until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” Let's have a bit more compassion for our fellow humans, eh?

Youre against the sexualisation and objectification of women?

Dear God are you beamed in from the victorian age.

So no woman can model. Therefore in the spirit of equality you must also object to male modelling and objectification.

I must tell my partner, who makes a very good living modelling, that she needs to stop being independent and doing what she wants, and must give up and get back to working in a shop.

Jesus wept, can't you grasp that feminism and equality can be achieve without draconian reaction to a woman using her body?

https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2020/august/club-extends-partnership-with-woodfordes-brewery/

Alcoholism causes more deaths and misery in this country than any other substance, effecting tens of thousands each year.

It wrecks lives, leaves battered women, fuels violence and negative social behaviour.

Nearly 8000 people die a year in the UK directly due to alcohol.

When will we see the same level of moral outrage, the same fan association statements, around this family clubs link with alcohol?

Or is it just good looking women doing a job that pays well we get our knickers in a twist about?

You miss the point. The outrage is not due to the fact that it is a gambling company or an alcohol manufacturer = both are legal products enjoyed by millions. Many (probably most) families enjoy alcohol in a sensible and moderate way and it is quite legitimate to promote it in an appropriate way to adults. Some people become obese because of over consumption of chocolate and pizza - would you have these banned as well?

The grave concern is over the way that the BK8 has chosen to market it's product in an offensive and completely inappropriate way, it's really not that difficult to understand.

Genuinely

I have no problem with alcohol.

As is blatantly obvious, I'm pointing out the utter hipocrisy of the bleeding hearts around the shock horror of a sausage game and a gambling company.

Except the call of hypocrisy misses the point. Until the alcohol company in question use similarly lewd videos as part of promotion, then the comparison is moot. It would hold water if Woodforde decided they'd advertise a beer and a lady pretended to jack herself off with the bottle or something like that.

Even the attempts by others showing comparisons by other companies are merely photographs of the sort that have been common even on the likes of Ladbrokes and William Hill, especially in their casino sections.

As for the 'suggestive acts' on this companies Instagram page...well, I absolutely guarantee you most of you and pretty much any lad and some girls as young as their early teens look up far worse on a regular basis.

I'm not sure how this justifies having that content on the main page of the clubs principal sponsor. We have fans far younger than early teens.

We are never going to see eye to eye on this subject, therefore I'm not going to spend any more of my time discussing it with you.

Piece of friendly advice, though; it costs nothing to be civil. Frankly, you are coming across as an extremely unpleasant person.

Didnt know they were on the front of our shirt!

Still, amusing how its always 'what about what about'

You do know you can focus on more than one issue at once right? And that right now the main issue is BK8.

Still, love some 'whataboutism'. Classic, the old Soviet 'why comrade dont look at this problem look over there at that other problem! Ignore this one focus on that what about what about what about'

Agreed Wolfie.  One thing that really gets my goat is all these male, pale and stale types jumping on Piers Morgan and his ilk "Woke" bandwagon, accusing people of ending a harmless bit of fun / banter because they show recognition of how a substantial part of the population are offended and point this out. Piers Morgan, who saw no wrong in tapping the phones of innocent people in his days as Editor of the mirror.  Careful who you side with you MPS's!

Ah well, on to the next gammon rage fest.

In the interests of equality... I was regularly violently abused by a woman for years who wasn't an alcoholic.  Violence by women against men is rarely talked about due to the embarrassment and it being treated far less seriously. "Battered women" in your context shows a gender bias as it can happen to anyone.

I would add that alcohol is actually banned from being advertised on players shirts. I would support banning gambling adverts on shirts too; but not only at Norwich City.

A timely reminder of an old adage.

“Never argue with stupid people. They’ll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”

I get the point about the offensive and inappropriate way they market their product. But it's not being marketed here in that way. And we don't get to say what's appropriate and offensive for other countries/cultures all over the world. That would be British Empireish if that's even a thing.

I would quite happily see the deal scrapped and a more suitable deal for our club taken up with a local company that shares our values. But then I'm just a little old Norwich man. And many other aspects of the PL and it's trappings pee me off too.

I will use that in future 👍

My favourite is always "never reason with an idiot as they're an idiot for a reason".

I use that a lot 😬

Both alcohol and gambling are industries where the Government - and all the administrations before them - have failed our society, mainly due to intense lobbying and sizeable donations and lunches.

For some reason they have felt differently about smoking, but as has been said alcohol can lead to fights, injuries and drunken driving and costs the NHS billions and can cause a lot of people - family, friends, innocent bystanders a load of misery. But alcohol isn't the problem as such, it is our attitude to it and the way we use it which is the problem, and this is where the Governments could be more proactive.

Similarly with Gambling - how often do we see in the EDP where a business has been brought to its knees by an employee using their funds to "fuel their gambling addiction".

Personally I have no problems with Woodfordes sponsoring us, but I do have a problem with any gambling company sponsoring anything.
