I cannot keep up with the ridiculous rule changes, so can someone explain why that wasn't a handball but Sissoko's two or three years ago was?

It hit an outstretched arm in an unnatural position, James was miles from where the ball was kicked whilst Sissoko was point blank.

So glad there's fans there tonight, seeing trophy presentations last season, and with us this season is so anti climatical.

This referee is awful

Probably the best referee performance I’ve seen in 10 years

Why on Earth is the ref stopping play for a hurt knee???

Looked a very serious injury, fully within his rights to stop the game although not a head injury

Again, that comment was after about 10mins when he gave a free kick against Walker for doing absolutely nothing wrong - literally nothing. There were also a number of players falling over who won free kicks.

After about 20mins he completely changed his way of refereeing the match and was superb.

Go back and watch if you want. He was definitely awful at the point I made that comment.

And no, it wasn’t.

He simply needed to ref the start of the match as he did the majority.

To be the best performance in 10 years would mean the whole match was officiated perfectly. This wasn’t.

I haven’t seen a decent reply but the handball was a debatable one when compared with this season and previous. Also Azpilicuetas knee injury didn’t warrant stopping the game.

A decent performance (particularly considering it was a champions league final) but people really get carried away with praise when there’s no real controversial incidents to debate.

This wasn’t the refs fault . The player feigns serious injury to waste time. His theatrics suggested at least an ACL if not full amputation. What is the ref supposed to do?

This is exactly what has to stop. Why on earth the pundits ignore it is a mystery .

Lots of players go over waving their arm in the air as though they need immediate emergency surgery or resuscitation or some other nonsense, but are more often than not ignored if it isn’t a foul and/or isn’t a head injury. Why the ref decided to stop a knee on knee collision that wasn’t given as a foul is baffling. The animation in how quickly he wanted the medics on was as though his leg was dangling off.

Mcmanaman at the time was confused as he assumed the ref had seen something serious.

Yeah, but a knee is not a head, he should ONLY be stopping for a head injury. The ref was superb last night, but he was wrong in this instance.

Yep

😂

might be worth you taking the referees exam. Like me .
Law 5 - The Referee.
The Referee will only be permitted to stop the game because of injury if the injury is deemed serious.
You can read the whole Laws of the game and you won’t find any mention of “head injuries”

Assume if you were in charge you’d have waited for the ball to go out when Fabrice Muamba went down, or when Shawcross broke Ramsey’s leg?

Muamba was clearly something very serious daft comparison.

Last night wasn't even slightly a serious injury, and never looked like one, it was someone who was vastly exaggerating a slight boo boo.

Jesus wept 😂😂

Agreed. No idea what the referee saw other than yet another player acting like they’d been shot. Usually they’re quite rightly ignored.

Ref made a mistake with that but was generally very good
