BK8 the new sponsor?

Recommended Posts

I have two questions:

1). Who let Til arrange the new shirt sponsorship?

2). Is this the level of due diligence we can expect when signing players this summer?

Somebody needs to be losing their job over this. I should think that there are several people who are actually accountable, sure it gets rubber stamped by the three of them (Kensell, Webber and his wife?), but obviously Webber isn't sacking his wife is he.... so bye Ben.

I'm not sure someone 'needs' to lose their job over this

That's good, I do.

I want a head to roll, we're supposed to be a classy operation and we've got this muppet trying to turn us into the Daily Sport of football teams.

1993 wants its culture back.

Well, I doubt you're going to get it. And I doubt you'll do much about it, either.

The relative lull in outrage over the next few days is an opportunity to make a point that can turn this fiasco into something positive long term. That opportunity has half-life measured in days or hours.

Downplaying this in order to avoid short term losses will turn this into metastasizing cancer.

There is a risk that involves the origin of BK8's money. It's' a no name outfit, out of nowhere offers millions in sponsorship money. Who knows where this money comes from. Instead of soft **** and gambling Norwich City may end up connected to things that make Daily Mail front cover. Remember gambling is illegal in many Asian countries: You will never find just one cockroach.

Tick tock.

Why is Kensell more accountable than Webber or his wife if they all rubber stamped it.You cant be serious in suggesting that the one person who has done more for this club than anyone should possibly be accountable.

i was thinking that, can find hardly anything about them. Also a risk that they simply do not have money.

Their money comes from specifically targeting countries that have restrictions on gambling, often with very poor populations,  Thailand for example.  (where gambling is illegal)

They advertise over there as 'the most sultry online betting games.'

Totally agree. It just needs a reminder that if we are going to maintain we are inclusive and a family-oriented club that greater diligence is required in the future before signing off on deals.

Ive been doing a little research, these are the Fun88 girls, Fun88 currently sponsor Newcastle.

I also had a look at W88 who sponsor Villa and Leicester. There were a couple of links that I certainly wasn’t going to click on as they were for mypornvid who were advertising links to W88 but I think you would have to watch some naughty stuff first !

It clearly isn’t just BK8 that have links to scantily clad girls as a minimum.

Im certainly not sticking up for the club but it gives us an idea as to how widespread this is.

Having been to South East Asia, there's definitely a bit of a different vibe there...

funnily enough, many of the ladies prefer "western men" because they are treated with more respect compared to how their domestic counterparts are with them.

Purely anecdotal but one of my friends has lived there for over a decade and has a long term partner and kids with her. This was the sort of thing her and her friends were saying. I'd imagine this sort of marketing would appeal to the typical alpha male chauvinist characters they were painting when they were describing typical Thai blokes.

Sure everyone is unique etc. and you get nobheads everywhere but there's definitely something in that or why would they bother with this type marketing in the first place? Some of my dad's mates I met in China were "interesting" to say the least as well...

Someone mentioned it yesterday, apologies I forget who, that ironically 'Footballs gambling addiction' was on C4 last night.

Just watched it and it's well worth a look especially in light of recent events.

I clearly must have a thicker skin than many of our fans....really not seeing the 'outrage'.....crisis meetings?...phone ins ???....its obviously because a lot of people just dont want a gambling company as a sponsor (despite 30+ of the top 2 divisions 42 clubs being sponsored by one) ..and this just being another stick to beat this with.

Not losing any sleep over it.

... more concerned about (under) selling our best player and how/if we're going to replace him.

There are still people who seem to think the issue here is about gambling. It is not. It is about something else far more repulsive.  We all kind of get that gambling sponsorship is not a good thing, but that is another issue.  It is the kind of imitated sexualised acts on videos of our sponsor that has no place anywhere near our club.

It may be that BK8 will do more to stop these kind of things, seems like they have done more today because looking through this thread I see that the sausage game video has been removed from youtube.  That is good and if we are not going to back out of this deal (I hope we do, but would be surprised if that happened) hopefully we can get this under control to the point that BK8 are educated into what is acceptable in this country and particularly, our club and it's fans.

Totally agree with Lakey.

It's this simple. Do you want our club to be remembered as the ones sponsored by the people who gave **** to hotdogs?

Time for Norwich City to get a decent sponsor on their shirt as I won’t be buying this shirt with that betting company on it and so will other fans think the same from what I have seen.

Don't Cazoo sponsor Villa?

It doesn't matter how woke you are, you can never be woke enough. The woke mob will always find a reason to 'cancel' you.

Something to reflect on if you are part of the woke mob. The mob will eventually be coming for you.

Hardly William Hill though are they, its weird.

Type BK8 into Google and I can't find their website, the only twitter I can find has 0 followers and was created in April 2021. No wikipedia.

Who are they? Are they brand new? Who is funding this sponsorship drive? Which individual is their financial backer, how did he make his money? All I can find at the moment is that they are registered in Malta (like most gambling firms) and seem to operate in a few primary markets where gambling is actually illegal.

What due diligence has been done, who are these people, where did their money come from? Is it clean money? Or is it all illegal profits from countries where gambling is banned?

I'm more worried at the moment that we may have got into bed with a bunch of crooks, and that's after years of Delia Smith taking the moral highground about not taking dirty oil money or taking money from oligarchs. Surely she is not best pleased that the club has sold out to the highest bidder with no consideration at all to values or integrity.

If there are 'crisis meetings' I suspect it will be Delia and her husband, two white as white brilliant moral people who are probably less than pleased about this deal and questioning whether Webber, Kensell and Ward should have as much autonomy as they currrently do. Perhaps rubber stamping of certain things needs to go back to the board room.

As a fan, I've bought into the idea of being self-funded and owned by real fans of the club and not taking dodgy foreign money, but what's the point in that if we're just going to get into bed with these weird faceless entities anyway? May as well go the whole hog and flog the club to some new money billionaire from an emerging market.

So you'd like to see Webber.sacked as.he is the one who would have signed.off on the deal?

No. And probably best to pipe down given your recent history of comments re sexual exploitation.

Urm no, he’s the sporting director, I’m sure he would have been made aware of it but he’s not in charge of commercial decisions. That’s like saying Ben kenswell gave the the green light for the Buendia sale.

??? Where have I said anything about sacking someone?   My opinion is that questions should be asked about how this slipped through without someone doing due diligence and who that should have been - and then systems to be put in place to make sure things like this don't happen again.  Sounds to me like whoever set this up was trusted to have done their job properly and those above did not see a need to look into it any further.  In that sense they (Webber/Kensell/Tunnell) are all culpable.  Plainly, lack of quality control is there - not enough checks and controls.

Mistakes have been made and I would expect hands to be held up, attempts to withdraw from the deal made - or at least threats to withdraw - to make BK8 sort out their publicity to be in line with the demands of associating themselves with football in the UK.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone gets if not sacked then certainly disciplined. When we were fined for a breach of ethics (the first time ever, I believe) over poaching Lambert et al from Colchester she was very unhappy about the club's good name being besmirched. This fiasco could hardly make her less angry than then.

Especially since the EDP is saying that BK8 does indeed use 'influencers' linked to hardcore p o r n to market its brand.
