One thing we haven’t tried this season is whether Rupp can play instead of Skipp. Rupp may well be the answer for the void left by Skipp next season assuming he doesn’t come back. With Sorensen as back up I feel a lot more comfortable. We’ll still need help in this area but not a major major concern.

I think we'll be buying or loaning a specialist defensive midfielder. Rupp is a good box to box player but I can't see him being the guy after the improvement we've shown this season with Skipp.

He’s mobile, he can pass, he seems an intelligent player. I wouldn’t be too unhappy if we used Rupp but we will need reinforcements.

Skipp has become irreplaceable. Anyone will sadly be a step down from this lad unless we spend a lot of money!

Definitely seems to have a recurring hamstring problem. Pity, as he has really shown what he's about this season, and looks like one of those who could make the step up to the Premier for me. He's mobile, defensively diligent, aware of what's going on around him, a good progressive passer (not necessarily incisive, like Vrancic, but good at moving the ball forwards), likes a turnover and can carry the ball at pace.

I have a suspicion this may be the side-effect of the serious injury he had at Hoffenheim.

Rupp is much more of a McLean alternative than Skipp- his strengths like in his ability to carry the ball forward and get up and down the pitch, I'm not sure he's got the positional discipline to be the holding midfielder. If we're replacing Skipp internally then Sorenson is the obvious option.

Skipp IMO is the piece of the jigsaw we've been missing for a long while. All the top sides have a player like him, someone who reads the game so well and has a natural instinct for being in the right place at the right time. If he doesn't stay, he's going to be a big void to fill and Rupp certainly isn't the answer.

Yep. Sorensen looks more similar to Skipp, but isn't identical. Skipp's a more tigerish tackler, Sorensen pinches pockets and drives into space.

Completely agree. I know he's a bit of cult hero but Tettey needed to be upgraded a good two or three years ago.

Rupp is steady but nowhere near in the same league as Skipp who has all the making of a top Premier player.
