Greavsy 2,412 Posted April 2, 2021 Simple answer to your question of why have i not come out and denied what he said was a lie, is because I have no opinion and don't care. How many times. You have a fantastic memory if you can remember where other posters were viewing that long ago, even if you looked it up, which I doubt. And however the screen grab was gained it doesn't alter the clear fact of you claiming it wasn't from ifollow even the logo was clearly there. Everyone bar you could see it. Keep swerving. A lovely romantic notion but how do you propose this 'small crowd' is identified from 22,000 season ticket holders and several thousand members ? Applications from the fan base would surely be huge for such a high profile game and impossible to come up with a satisfying solution other than a ballot lottery. That number would be reduced by those who had already attended a (restricted attendance) game too is my understanding, as wasnt the rule once youve attended one, you don't get another chance until every season ticket holder has had the opportunity. I don't disagree Greavsy but remember for those two games the tickets available took two or three days to shift but an end of season celebration game would be a totally different ball game with huge numbers wanting to attend even excluding those who attended the two trial games held earlier this season
Greavsy 2,412 Posted April 2, 2021 Totally agree, lockdown being slowly eased, more people jabbed, etc. Im sure the club would charge a hansome ticket price too.

Ballot lottery it is then, only a big deal if people are determined to be upset at not winning a lucky dip, but then some are by nature, glass half empty types. What about the elite 750, surely they have a right to be upset. They have already filled their glass surely?

I daresay that fhe technology available nowadays takes a lot of the number crunching out of the equation. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I am assuming you are a Home Member in order that you were able to purchase a ticket over the counter so find it strange if that is the case that you were printed out a ticket for the away section ? Many moons ago Tillo, maybe 1994/5 , I certainly wasn't a member of any description at the time. I chanced a call as I was unexpectedly in town for the weekend, was told theyd put my name on a ticket for collection. Were there restrictions in place back then? If so, they werent very rigorously applied. May still have the ticket somewhere in a box of tat, but not gonna go looking for it now. What I do remember is that tbere was an eclipse of the moon that weekend that I watched from top of the dunes at Eccles cart gap. Things were certainly different over 25 years ago and with crowds of around 14,000 in those days under Chase the club were glad of anybody pitching up for a ticket. I made an assumption that you were talking in recent times wcorkio where tickets are now at a premium.

No worries, since on line came into force , I've usually been able to get a ticket if I'm over visiting the Mammy...94 last birthday in December.... I'll be over as soon as travel/ vaccination allows as I haven't seen her in the flesh since my father-in-laws funeral in October 2019.
Well b back 3,201 Posted April 4, 2021 Here is the latest on the trials to get people back into venues big and small. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56625307
Well b back 3,201 Posted April 4, 2021 Carabao cup to have 8000 fans BREAKINGCarabao Cup: Final to have 8,000 fans in stadium The Carabao Cup final between Tottenham and Manchester City will have 8,000 fans in attendance after it was confirmed as a pilot event to test the return of big crowds. A proportion of tickets will be made available to both clubs for the game at Wembley Stadium on 25 April. The rest will be given to local residents in Brent and NHS staff. Rick Parry, chair of the English Football League (EFL), said it was an "important milestone".
TIL 1010 4,737 Posted April 4, 2021 So with two clubs having a combined total of over 100,000 at home games less than 8,000 tickets between them for a Wembley Cup Final should make their allocation a piece of cake. 😂

Capt. Pants 4,226 Posted April 4, 2021 Well it looks as though vaccination passports are going to be looked at. There are still learnings to be gained from pilot events, particularly the effect on the infection and death rate if crowds of vaccinated people are allowed to group together. Previous pilots are pretty irrelevant now imo.
Greavsy 2,412 Posted April 4, 2021 (edited) As I've said before, it's not the size of the venue, it's the infrastructure for getting people out after the match. Getting in is less of a problem as people will naturally stagger arrival times, but 8k leaving the ground at once, on the tube etc. Remember social distance is still a thing. essex canary 495 Posted April 4, 2021 As Glenn Roeder once noted football is largely only watched by white guys. What a magnificent idea by Boris when we have been denied our pleasure all year to open a stadium to locals in an area where the local BAME population ratio to white British is 15:1? I look forward to him applying the same principles to his favourite sport, grouse shooting.
