Cook Struggling To Win Over The Fans.

Recommended Posts

An Ipswich pal of mine was adamant a few weeks ago that they were a top two side and Lambert was the problem.

Now apparently Paul Cook needs a complete clear out of these useless good for nothing players.

oh well.

“ Dreadful, gutless and just depressing “

That’s one of the more complementary quotes

Also a sentence that I'm sure sums up how it must feel to have watched Ipswich for the past decade

Had to laugh at the post entitled "do we need to apologise to Lambert?" 😂

Or has the Wigan goalkeeper ever had an easier afternoon thread 🤣

Agent Cook - enough said.

Hope we don't run out of special agents.

I thought that Cook might be the answer, but so far his start seems to have been disjointed and uninspiring. He's added nothing whatsoever. Talks a good game though.

Have they got yet another dud or is it that the whole set-up is just a lost cause .... damaged goods, irrepareable?

They are so resigned to constant disappointment that the lack of 'new manager bounce' since Cook's arrival has hardly caused a murmur.

Lambert Farke and Neil all had jobs when we employed them. Keane Jewell Lambert and Cook were all out of work. Only Hurst had a job - but that barely counts.
Can’t help but feel that has something to do with it . Admit it’s a generalisation- but mostly people like Lambert who are out of work, are out of work for a reason.

It will pan out the same as the last few managers, if he turns in consistent poor results.

They will moan like mad behind the protection of the keyboard/curtain towards the hapless incumbent of the manager whilst the owner continues to get away with it. The likelihood of an organised large vociferous protest (as opposed to a few idiots passing by) against the owner is zero, due in the main to the apathy set in there over many years.

The only thing I hope we do not have to witness again, is the utterly cringingly embarrassing spectacle of a couple of teenagers turning up to the training ground during break time, and hiding in a bush behind a fence with a sparkler and a smoke bomb.

I seriously didn't know whether to laugh or cry at that effort.

Agent Bruce might be primed for action if he gets sacked at Newcastle

Agent Neil is now also available don't forget.

Too fresh Tillo. Let him take a couple of other Championship jobs and theyll consider him cleansed of  Canaryitis. Agent Gill was the exception.... they thought they'd stolen him, so were immediately accepting, those naive bumpkins.

The problems seem to run so much deeper than the manager. The players they bring in seem to have no heart or desire and there seems to be a serious lack of work rate.

They've definitley got a chance to clear out a few this summer- the list of players out of contract is fairly staggering - if you include loanees then they have 20 players who aren't guaranteed to be there next season.

Some of the TWTD links posted still show the Binners rating Cap’n Fistpump as POTS. There is one of the problems . A guy that has stolen a living for years.

Yes, I'd expect Cook to have a largely new squad for August. Any Ipswich fan judging him on this season is being foolish.

My binner supporting mate who’s lost any interest now, said that the state of their training facility is embarrassing and there’s no real youth set up anymore, they did have a line of producing decent youngsters now they’re competing with the likes of Lincoln & Colchester for youth products! All such positive to hear as a City fan, looks like they might well be looking at a relegation scrap next season whichever league they’re in!

Still only 2 points off 6th place, with an apparently "easy" run in mostly against the current bottom 8 - could go either way, but you'd have to hope that Agents Cook and Gill still know where their ultimate loyalties lay.

Play-offs would give them false hope ... as last time under MM. They are just not there in quality and should they succeed they would be Championship fodder without investment.

There is no need for supposed 'agents' at poorman road, any more than a Robin Reliant needs to be sabotaged before an F1 race.

The farm hands consistently squeak about how Evans 'pumps money in', forgetting all the while that it is he who sets the budget, He is not doing them any favours, as any result there should be judged on the league position - one that has been sliding pretty much since he turned up

So has he a master plan, some kind of strategy ? My thought is that he has, but not the same one as the suffolk dimwits.

Put bluntly it is 'player trading, which is where the serious money can be made. Any player who can be sold, has been. A bit of 'jiggery pokery' with the accounts that show a loss means player sales are trousered to cover that 'loss'. It explains the bloated squad, with so many of them being youth players, who never really make it into the first team. Of course being 'advised; by 'readies' Redknapp might be akin to having Jesse James advising you on how to open a bank account. And it would explain why Lambert talked of all parties needing to sit round the table to work together, as clearly that is not how things are working there currently.

As usual the 'not too bright' will howl to the moon' as they did many a year back when I pointed out the true impoverished state of things at poorman road. They will wail that a man who makes his living from ticket touting and hosting arms sales could not be so unscrupulous. And where is the evidence that such skulduggery exists, or has done so, in football ?

All around us.....all around the game.

Good points well made, seems to me that the Suffolk faithful are always looking for someone to blame,  it's Evans,  then the latest Manager,  then the players,  then back to Evans again,  round and round they go Season after Season.

A quick look in the mirror might help, we're forever hearing about their history,  about players who aren't fit to wear the shirt, about Sir Bobby and Sir Alf and this 'once great Club' and the fact that they won a few games 40 years ago.

Time to move on, the reality is, that they drew with Wigan on Saturday,  this is where their Club is TODAY, not half a Century ago. The players and their Club bear no relation to the sides some of the older supporters watched in the days when smaller Clubs had a chance.

It'll never change though,  they're stuck in a time warp of Morris Marina's and the Sex Pistols, no matter how well they perform, it'll never be good enough compared to what's gone before....

...therein  lies the comedy 🤣

Up to Cook being appointed the continuous bleat was that they had one of the best squads in L1 and were only being let down by a bad manager (again) ...................... So much for that theory 😒

Following my thoughts above, is why they have been happy to sign such disruptive players as Taylor and Chopra. Was the thought there that they could be 'turned round' and sold for a hefty profit ?

Is the disjointed set up at poorman road that Lambert spoke about one of the youth set up being merely one of 'fattening them up to sell' as you might with live stock, rather than it being an integrated part of the overall club strategy ?

But what ever it is, as you say it won't be even contemplated by these dimwits that anyone could treat the 'mighty' town in such a way. Everyone's second favourite cub, the one which had the Queen Mum as a season ticket holder.

Which leaves us with the old thought of 'if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck.....only in this case it is one of a L1 club.
