Herman 9,717 Posted March 6, 2021 So we can pronounce Spanish, Polish and Greek names well but have problems with an English one.😀
Branston Pickle 3,638 Posted March 6, 2021 (edited) I’ve had two friends called Aaron, one insisted it was pronounced air-on, the other reckoned that was ‘poncey’ (his word) so I guess it’s each to their own. As a surname it maybe makes more difference. Edited March 6, 2021 by Branston Pickle

I won't comment on Hughton/Houghton...... Edited March 6, 2021 by Canary73
Chief stoker 21 Posted March 6, 2021 While at sea we had a Captain Death, but he said it was pronounced De-arth.
Fiery Zac 1,066 Posted March 6, 2021 The commentators saying ‘Hoolahun’ always really irritated me. How hard is it to learn the pronunciation of someone’s name! Though it’s taken us about 3 years to find out it’s Airons, maybe it is Hoolahun
