glory.win or die. 270 Posted February 28, 2021 Only Ipswich can give a manager a 5 year contract during a poor run and sack him during a good run Seems a little odd to me tho, if the takeover goes thru no doubt they would have sacked him but seems strange he would go now due to differences of opinion as to me it implies Evans has plans on staying
Sooty57 403 Posted February 28, 2021 Get ready for a resurgent Ipswich to storm up the league, culminating with another European title in three to four years. Another 49 stars (plus some stripes) on the shirt. Finally, after all those years of hurt, they will take their rightful place alongside the mighty Leeds and Aston Villa in the Premier League, while those hateful budgies sink down the leagues. That concludes today's lesson in Suffolk B0ll0ck Speak.
Petriix 2,834 Posted February 28, 2021 Can I take this opportunity to publicly thank Agent Lambert for his hard work. He's put in a great shift and has earned a well deserved break. 1

He should have had Ipswich in the top two most of the season, then dropping into 3rd during the last few matches only to go out in the first round of the play-offs. 1

Sooty57 403 Posted February 28, 2021 Hope he get's a decent settlement, because it is very difficult to see him landing a decent managerial appointment following his record since leaving CR
Nuff Said 5,089 Posted February 28, 2021 Just out of curiosity, what would he have been earning as manager of Ipswich?

A paper reported that his remaining contract of about 4 and a bit years was worth £2m and that was given as the cost of sacking him. So that would make it about £500k a year. How much he mutually accepted as a pay off who knows, you'd assume at least a full years pay? Edited February 28, 2021 by TeemuVanBasten
KiwiScot 1,436 Posted February 28, 2021 Agent Lambert you have done your duty well and now you can be known again by your true name. The Messiah!

You can only really blame Evans for giving him such a dumb contract in the first place. By all means, give him 5 years' contract of you wish but at least stick a performance clause in it ! Given that he’s going to struggle to find another role, you would think he’d push for the full £2 million, possibly with a payback clause if he gets a job paying similar before the 4 years are up.
