I'd like to see Mumba in the squad if he is fit, staus unknown.  Mumba will be our secret weapon to be thrown on late if needed to be the surprise package.  Cannot see the benefit of having 3 DM's on the bench in place of some attacking prowess.

But there are already four attacking options in the bench, two of which with plenty of pace. The 3 DM’s can and have also played in the back four so they collectively cover multiple positions if required.

Good job we’ve finished with Cardiff, got the double over them before big Mick rolled up

I think it’s fair to say Mick McCarthy’s record against us isnt exactly the best 😉. But there won’t be a team in the playoffs that will want to face them, that’s for sure.

I had a look at the Brentford board tonight and it seems some of their more knowledgeable supporters have identified the threat that young Maxi will pose to their left back tomorrow. Don’t know much about their player to be honest, but I’ve seen enough to know the Danish lad is so tailor made for Max to have an absolute field day, it’s unreal. Max certainly will have a key role tomorrow night for sure, and I’m really not sure they’ll be able to stop him to be honest. It’s all very well saying ‘we need to keep him pegged back’ but I think they’re about to find out that’s a lot easier said than done - let’s face it, that must be every managers brief to his players before their respective games against us. On the other side of the pitch, with Todd still out (or will he be? 🤔), let’s hope Onel is getting up to speed after his time on the pitch against the Chairboys on Sunday. We know when he fancies it, he can be an absolute nightmare to face, but he’s been out with injury for most of the season so hopefully those vital minutes against Wycombe have helped shake off the obvious rustiness and he’s raring to go.

Hot take from a Brentford fan whilst having a nosey on their forum:

"Should beat Norwich. If Swansea can find a way through their defense we should too. They're toothless attacking so as long as we stay solid at the back we should find this game easier than expected."

Makes sense... in fact, that’s exactly how football works, isn’t it 😆

Loving the notion of Pukki/Buendi/Cantwell as toothless. They can double-manmark one or both of the latter two but can’t see them managing  that while playing their usual game.

If they do win, though, it would be their ‘Leeds away’ moment (but without keeping/taking them top, so not really) and should be a sign they might have a fighting chance (no more)  if promoted... subject to T&Cs.

The likes of Swansea & Bournemouth, on the other hand, do know how to beat Norwich but even they can’t do so consistently - we’ve swapped victories this season with both. (Edit: oops, not replayed Bournemouth yet. Can’t write them off but they’re exactly not on form)

I think Bournemouth have only beat us once in god knows how many years and that was their ‘stunning’ 1-0 victory earlier this season where they spent the *entirety* of the second half defending their 6 yard box! And let’s not forget - both Buendia and Cantwell weren’t playing in that game either! Another team I expect us to get 3 points against when we play them soon.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA

God I’m looking forward to tonight! 😂

(And you watch Todd appear on the team sheet right at the last minute 😉)

That Overlap with Max and Emi is where we could have some joy.

Definitely, I will also put money on it that one of their major game plans will be to get Buendia sent off. Need to watch out for that one.

This game might be made for Onel.

As much as I like Cantwell and the energy he injects Onel is decent defensively and a massive threat on the counter with his pace.

Our overlaps out wide now look strong with Giannoulis' attacking threat plus Max and Emi on the other side.

It looks like it could be a game with some goals in it.

Have earmarked a goal for Giannoulis tonight. He’s getting in some great positions offensively but nearly always unselfishly sets it up for a teammate.

A repeat of his Champions League performance against Benfica however where he got a goal and an assist would be most welcome, Bonzo!

Emi just needs to stay on his feet. His passion can get the better of him but I'd rather we conceded a goal than lose him for a red card.

Emi's tackling this season hasn't been intentionally malicious at any stage. As much as I hate the theatrics of some players simulating injury- until the refereeing sorts this out with retrospective cards and bans for simulation of injuries we need to do the same.

If they clatter him, Emi needs to go down like he's been shot.

From the Brentford score predictions thread on their forum;

"Norwich are there on merit based on the season so far, at this moment in time we are the best team in the division. They can stick that one on the wall in their changing room too."

Hahaha damn if only there was room.

But can’t.

No room because love letters from Pep Guardiola.

Someone cleverer than me please explain that (and talk slowly)

On merit? We are the top team , based on the season. We are the (equal with Barnsley) top team , 'at this moment in time', based on the last 5 games.

Loving the posturing (on both forums) as that what football fans do

Brentford are a good team. We are a good team. Can they beat us? Yes they can. Can we beat them? Yes we can. Do they let a lot of goals in? Yes they do (2nd bottom Sheff Wed have conceded only 3 more than them). Do they score a lot of goals? Yes they do (Top scorers in the League) . Do we let a lot of goals in? No we don't. Do we score a lot of goals (yes we do - 3rd top scorers in the League)

What some fans are not picking up is that the likes of Brentford need to do is improve on our results over the next 13 games, and we have  3 game headstart on that as it stands. A draw tonight would just add the pressure to Brentford to over come that. They have to win, not because of what it will do to us, but what it would do to the chasing pack. There is no pressure on us to go b**** out to win tonight. We can relax and play our game. Our season will not be defined on what happens tonight. The following few fixtures could actually see us extend the gap, no matter what happens tonight.

It is ours to lose. Tonight is very much a free hit for us

I said 1-1 earlier, but I'll add this:

If Brentford score first they'll get a least a point. If we score first, I think we'll win. Also, we're more solid and confident down the left flank compared to the game at their place as that was when Sorensen had to step in four minutes before kick-off in a position he'd never played before.

We now have an increasingly settled and specialist left-back in Giannoulis there, not a defensive midfielder bailing the team out. And Giannoulis and Hernandez looks like a very interesting - and ****ing fast - partnership down that side.

Definitely want to see Placheta on the bench here. If we get Brentford chasing and bring him off for the last 15, it could be mayhem.

Interesting, Brentford are a very good team but their fans do have a little bit of delusion about them. Not just a few, over half the posts on their prediction thread say this or something similar:

Quote

3-0 Brentford. Norwich will most likely miss Cantwell who looked like their only player with any heart against Swansea.
If we can get 2 or more, we will win. Norwich are toothless attacking, I think Pukki has declined since he last played in the Championship. They were very lucky to weasel a draw last time. We are the better team.

Quote

Anything less than a win would be a hard result to take, we are better than Norwich.

Quote

Birmingham battered them for 80 minutes and should have won. A lucky deflection

Quote

Norwich 0-4 Bees

Quote

We are better than them and will prove it tonight.

I can’t see anything other than a 3-1 win. Canos, Reid and Toney.

They're basically a forum full of Lakey-level optimism.

I agree with all you have said. Am not in the slightest nervous about tonight. I very much see it as a free hit which means the lads should be more relaxed. Thats when we play our best football. Was probably more nervous on Sunday.....and I wasn't then

It will be incredibly tight hopefully home advantage even with out fans will give us the edge. I do not expect us to keep a clean sheet and we do have quite a  nice buffer but we all know that can change quickly. 90 points is normally good enough for second place and i think it will be this season so we need 20pts from 13 games, if we cannot get that many we do not deserve to go up. This game  may be more about who finishes top rather than who goes up. I would actually take a draw given that we have a better run in than a lot of the other top 6 and it really does not matter where you get the points just so long as you get them. Prediction 2-2

Exactly, Hoggy. Nothing bad aimed at the reasonable Brentford supporters, absolutely nowt wrong with those expecting or wanting their team to win, that’s of course their right and what you’d expect, and rightly so. In actual fact, there is not one Brentford supporter I know in the flesh (and I know a few) that are anything like quite a reasonably large portion on their message board. They are really good guys. But you don’t have to read through much on there forum to discover why they’re loved and loathed in equal measure by other clubs. I’ve probably been as offensive as it gets to them on here but it was pointed out to me on this thread that’s because I predicted a 4-1 win. I’m sorry but I genuinely believe that could well be a likely scoreline given that a.) we’ve started to find our shooting boots b.) coupled with that we’re stronger at the back than themselves, which is a fact, and c.) it’s them that ultimately need the points tonight which puts them in a risky position throwing the sink at a team that are so well drilled in finding space and incisively moving the ball forward. When you factor that all together then a bit of a hammering is far from inconceivable. As I said earlier, we should remember what happened when we were in a similar situation that fateful day we travelled to Craven Cottage 16 odd years ago now. I respect them as a team, and they can play, but some of their fans need massively being brought down to earth.

Utter tosh, Alex. The 4-1 outcome is an absolute  dead cert , not some wishy-washy “likely” scenario

Emi and Pukki can put a goal past anyone but am concerned that without Todd we will give up a lot of the middle of the park.

Really high energy levels could counter some of the loss in quality tho
