cambridgeshire canary 6,716 Posted February 20, 2021 Within the last decade or two. Theoklitos doesn't really count, only played one match 😉
Christoph Stiepermann 1,135 Posted February 20, 2021 Worst players I've ever seen play more than a few matches for us are Mark Fotheringham, Julien Brellier, Andy Hughes and Chris Killen. Time has mercifully completely erased pretty much all memory I have of the Grant-Roeder era so I can't picture exactly why but I remember thinking those players were shocking every time I saw them. Worst two I've ever seen live though were Theoklitos and Whaley but I agree only playing one game doesn't count
Herman 9,760 Posted February 20, 2021 Pound for pound it has to be Ricky Van Wolfswinkel.

Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man 3,820 Posted February 20, 2021 Chris Brown usually gets my vote for this question. One goal in 24 games if I'm not mistaken, and he very rarely even got himself in the position to miss chances. It was like playing with ten.
Move Klose 303 Posted February 20, 2021 Marley Watkins. Woeful player, receiving over £1m pounds for him was a stroke of genius.

king canary 7,605 Posted February 20, 2021 In terms of sheer lack of talent, Brellier or Simon Whalley. In terms of ability vs spend/anticipation then Ricky, Naismith or Wildschutt
alex_ncfc 662 Posted February 20, 2021 Jarrett. Fotheringham. Sheron. Watkins. Pretty much 90% of players signed during the Grant/Roeder/Gunn era. Just too many to pick from.

His only goal from a corner where Dublin practically dragged him into position

Was never going to happen for him here in that he just was'nt cut out to be main striker on his own in a Hughton style team. Would have been great in a Farke team. 1

keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted February 20, 2021 Thing is Naismith cost £9M so in those terms he was. But in lack of ability it has to be either Brellier or Fotheringham.
Ken Hairy 3,772 Posted February 20, 2021 (edited) Quite a few to choose from, especially in the mid to late 2000s, but I'm going to go a tad later than that and throw Kyle Lafferty into the mix. Edited February 20, 2021 by Ken Hairy

Agree with this, at least in recent years. I still have no idea what position was meant to be his best (other than nowhere near the pitch).

Random google just led me to discover that he's the grandson of this noted Poet. Don't imagine many other footballers have that in their family history! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernon_Watkins And yes, he was terrible for us.
