ASHTON-True potential

Recommended Posts

Nice to see Ashton is showing that his performance with Norwich in the prem was no fluke.  Just goes to show what poor service he received from his teammates. I just cannot believe how anyone can criticise him leaving. Anyone with any kind of ambition could see that this club is rotting from the inside. IMO he realised by October that we were not going anywhere and wanted a move and that became obvious as his performances dwindled. Except for the little spurt at Christmas where his teammates actually gave him a bit of service.

His performance last night shows how good a player he is and Worthy should be sacked purely for allowing this class player to wither under his management (sic).

As for Saturday, how can he come out and say we were first class! The man is a joke.

The bloke will be a star and sadly we have let him slip through our fingers having failed to get the service to him that should have fired us to the play offs.

Sadly the board are overly fixated at his ''treasonous'' departure (ambitious young player wants prem football and rightly sees current club is not going to provide that) issuing a variety of poor statements on that subject rather than focusing on the cause of his departure and the current malaise facing this club.

Ashton is a terrific footballer. His power, hold up play, vision, heading ability and genuine ''2-footedness'' mark him out as the best of his type (size) in England. Crouch simply cant hold a candle to him. It is clear, however, that Ashton is on the fast track, and, as such, if he keeps scoring at the current rate, he will catch the eye in time for the world cup plane. In doing so he will outgrow West Ham, and a massive money move to chelsea or Manchester United will follow.  He will want Champions league exposure as much as he currently wants Premier league exposure. Thats a fact. Its also good news, because the legacy of the big money sell on could yet, if not wasted on odds and sods of the Worthington variety, give us cause for optimism.

True. I always thought he has the ability to be the next alan Shearer and there are few similar players for england at the moment. They all seem to be owen size, apart from Crouch and he''s just unique.

yes, im very pleased to see him doing well. im sure he could easily finish on 10 goals for west ham this season and hopefully get into the england set-up. even if for just a friendly or two. simple fact is, he was too good for us.

Good Luck to him, I hope that he does break into the England team at some point also WHU make Europe (without writing a song) as this is where the extra 250K our hard nosed negotiating board held out for is to come from.

[quote user="ricky knight"]amazing what someone can do, when they actually try is''nt it?

Good luck to him - I hope he gets all he wishes for.   I too see him as another Shearer - at least we saw his star shine brightly for a few months here..

Hopefully he will be on that plane for Germany - he would be a useful addition to the squad...

good to see him doing well, lets hope he moves on to a big club & we can have another slice of the profits.

2 out of 2 - nice strike rate.  if deano scores 8 by end of season, then pardew''s gamble will have succeeded, because if shearer becomes newcastle manager, would he pay hammers 10m for a young english player in his mould?

Hammers fans were laughing in last month when they got Deano "at a steal". As mentioned further up....if he continues scoring and WHU make Europe, then we''ll have a small bonus, but they will be laughing all the way into next season because they bought the bargain of the season.

It just shows that good service ''makes'' a striker . To me, it doesn''t matter that he wasn''t in the right frame of mind playing for us this season because the midfielders and defenders haven''t been supplying the balls that strikers need to score. Earnshaw is going to go the same way in the present situation - disillusioned by a goal drought and rubbish football behind him.
