Troy Deeney stated today that Watford have had an average start to their season but now things are starting to click and they are coming for us

Retirement and an eventual last payday move to America or Australia or somewhere is all that’s coming in Troy Deeneys near future.

He needs to talk big because so far his own performances haven't been all that, let alone his teams. Come get it Troy, halfway there and we're doing just fine

They'll beat a lot of the teams in the top 6/8 because of how they play and the quality they have on the counter, I'd definitely fancy them in the play offs. But I don't think they'll pick up enough points for the auto's. When they have to play on the front foot against the weaker teams and break them down the struggle compared to us as they're all pace and power and are not very technical gifted, in some games they just don't look like they fancy it to me either, they have a few players who probably don't think they should be playing at this level. I think They'll finish 3rd or 4th and win the play offs.

We're teams built on opposite ends of the spectrum. We're a better Championship team than them but as it stands they're much more equipped to survive if both teams get promoted.

They've got a nice run of fixtures coming up but they'll have to be past us by April as their run in is difficult to say the least

5 of them have been penalties. He’s no longer the player he used to be.

To be fair, I get so excited watching us too sometimes I almost reach climax, but I'm surprised an opposition player admits to it.

Presumably the last payday comes before the retirement?

He’s scored a whopping 1 goal in open play this season, in the league at least, Cambridge! Not great. But I’ve predicted Watford to finish 2nd this season, they’re a funny team because they have some good players, though their style I find a bit agricultural - they don’t look particularly good going forward but defensively they look very well organised and have a way that makes them hard to play against. In short, they’re a bit like the Burnley of the Championship!

Alex, you're not allowed to criticise Burnley. It upsets the forum police. You're going to have to join me on the naughty step I'm afraid.

You're right though. You wouldn't want to pay to watch them would you?

Having said that, they haven't played well all season but they are in a good position. If they could persuade Sarr to kick the ball instead of the opposition it would help.

Yes the Hornets are only outside the autos on GD with Swansea but the Swans have a game in hand which is at home to Brentford tomorrow night. Bees are only 2pts behind them and so a draw is essential for Watford, as if Swansea win they will be 3 points behind them with an inferior GD, and if Brentford win they will drop to 4th.

I can’t really see how they are “coming for us” as they are currently 7pts behind us with no GIH

Seven points with nearly half the season left is nothing.

Certainly expect them to be in the automatic promotion shake up. It’s a very open division this year, that said IF we keep playing as we are we can win it comfortably.

Look lads, it’s the championship, it’s always a tight league. Difference between us and the other teams apart from our players being a lot better is we are championship specialists. We’ve got a team full of championship veterans, a manager who’s won it once already and a fanbase who know all about it. This will serve us well.

They've been sh*t in every game i've seen them play (inlcuding against us where we did ourselves no favours with our worst performance in a while) but keep getting lucky penalties or bits of fortune. In the sense they are not playing well and winning then yes you'd have to say they are one of the main threats to us but they arfe not playing well so hopefully will slip up soon. Without pens Deeney would have about 1 goal and he's not in shape.

It's not that hard to work out.

True. Shame about Peter. My son was in NZ and playing for a club called Miramar who at that time had a link with us and players went out in the close season.

And whereas they didn't like big head, greedy John Fashanu, they absolutely loved Peter and evidently it was tearful when he played his last game for them and during a presentation afterwards.

Deeney comes across as another John Fashanu to me.
