Hugil confirmed out 'for a few games'

Pukki and Idah back, don’t worry. Striker options one and two will be available. Oh and four and five as well.

Well I hope Idah isn't as rusty as those others who came back from injury.

He almost certainly will be - but hopefully Pukki will be fit next weekend and we can ease Idah back in.  If not it's Sorensen up front. 🙂

The run out will blow a few cobwebs away.

We really need to sign a striker. Competition, injury cover and another option are three compelling reasons.

Pukki, Idah, Soto, Omotoye and Hugill is enough considering we only ever play one up front.

If push comes to shove for a temp striker and as someone suggested (think it was Adrian Coote) on Radio Snorefolk, that Jordan Rhodes wouldn't be a bad option...... 😉

can't see how signing a striker now would help. They would need time to get up to speed by which point Soto, Idah and probably Pukki would be good to go. We may have to muddle through next game but hopefully Pukki is back which will alleviate that.

No midweek game for us which will help Pukki and Idah. And maybe Soto can now get a closer look too? Sorenson up front?

Feel very sorry for Hugill after his performance in recent games. From what Farke said it sounds like that at least one of Pukki and Idah should be available though

Pukki currently injured and not a certainty to be fit next week.

Idah has not kicked a ball in anger since October.

Soto awaiting a work permit which hopefully will come through next week but a total unknown in English football.

Omotoye needs loaning out surely to gain experience ?

Hugill out for several weeks.

Wolfie i really am struggling with your faith that this group of strikers might have enough games and more importantly goals in them too see the season out and get us promoted. We need some insurance before the end of January.

Ultimately, I'm cool with whatever Farke and Webber decide. I reckon that Pukki, Soto and Idah (with Hugill coming back in a few weeks) will be sufficient on the surface, and my hunch is that Webber and Farke will stick with that and it'll be enough.

If they decide we need an extra body in, I've got no problem with that either obviously.

No way we are signing another striker.

As to if they have enough goals in them well, look at the league table.

So if Pukki does not return v Boro next week who do you see filling his boots ?

Have to assume that Farke is fairly confident that Pukki will be back next week....otherwise it was bloody madness to have played Hugill today

I think he has been getting better with each start and being the only senior striker available made him the natural choice yesterday, I wouldn’t have been disappointed if he’d been rested but can see why he played.

Have said on another thread I think we have enough forwards and don’t  see us signing another especially if Pukki is back for Boro which sells likely. We already have a big squad and having covered LB I don’t think we’ll be making signings ‘just in case’.

Long interview with Farke about Soto yesterday. He will be training with the U23's initially to assess if he needs a UK loan. Farke stressed that we shouldn't get over excited as he's never seen Soto play.

Farke sounded a bit baffled about the fuss.

Now if and i say if this i have taken from another thread is true may i suggest those saying Soto is a striker option for next week are well wide of the mark.

Sounds like he’s just trying to take pressure off the lad, Tilly, as some such as myself have probably got a bit carried about him. That said, no denying he’s scored some fantastic goals displaying incredible technique so on the back of those it’s hard not to be excited about this kids future.

We’ll have to see what happens with Hugill, but with it looking like Omotoye might be going out on loan to League 1, it’s sounds like Soto may just get an introduction to the first team squad quite a lot sooner than Farke had intended!

Well Soto will be the only striker with anything like match sharpness, who knows if they sort out the work permit and Idah isn’t ready we might see Soto or as above our utility man Sorensen up front.

Soto's only started one game since December and has obviously been playing at a much less intense level. Part of me would absolutely love to see what he can do but from Farke has said it would amaze me if he plays for the first team any time soon.

Pukki will be fine for Boro, and Idah will be back in training this week so hopefully will be fit enough for the bench.

I can see Rhodes or Dwight Gale being reasonable short term loan options although arguably Gayle will be pricier and unlikely to want to be a bench warmer but he does know how to score at this level and could be what we need to get across the line....

Left-field suggestion, but why not put one of our sprinters up top and leave the other on the bench? Placheta does get in some really good positions to shoot, he's just managed to spray balls like a randy tomcat. And Hernandez can use the minutes.

I have a feeling that's what we'll see against Middlesbrough.  Pepe will be used just to keep Middlesbrough defence busy. Pukki on the bench in case of emergencies, I don't see Colin coming to the Carra other than to keep us out, so looking like we'll have 75% possession, and be a late 1-0 to us from a bit of midfield magic.

You need a specialist striker up top, someone who knows what runs to make and create space for others.

We have a week to decide whether to risk going with what we have or buy in some 'insurance'. I'd rather have too many options than not enough.
