cambridgeshire canary 6,715 Posted January 8, 2021 (edited) Tim Krul is one of the positive cases, and the second player is Adam Idah. They've been isolating for a few days because we tested at the beginning of the week. The most important thing is they feel well. Tim had some symptoms but it's not getting worse, more like a cold. It looks quite ok. They have a blocked nose or something so it's not too bad but we take it seriously. Tim said how poorly you feel when you have it so stay disciplined and he's spot on. They were isolated from the moment after we took the tests so no reason to be majorly concerned. Kieran Dowell was struggling after the game with some pain. Not a major concern but he will be out for 10-12 days and miss the FA Cup tie and the next league game. Josh Martin had a cold in the last days and didn't feel well. He was back in individual training and we've re-tested him to make sure it's not a COVID case. It seems like a normal cold, but we'll bring him back to the group when he has another negative test. Lukas is improving day to day but we hope he can re-join team training next week. Same for Marco Stiepermann - he's still losing his balance and feeling sick so he needs to see some more specialists to find a solution. It's hard to predict when he can return to training. Onel and Bali are both back in training so that's good news. I think about involving them tomorrow. It could be too soon but Bali looks sharp and hasn't been out that long. He's naturally a pretty fit and physical player. There's a good chance for him to be involved. Onel needs a few more training sessions to get back to his rhythm, but he will improve his chances to be involved. He's a topic for the squad perhaps tomorrow, but not for the starting lineup. Daniel Barden is our cup goalkeeper this season and he'll start tomorrow. He has my trust and I'm sure he'll have a good performance. He's a confident lad. Michael McGovern had successful surgery. The tendon was fully interrupted so had to be repaired. He'll be out for 12-16 weeks. Edited January 8, 2021 by cambridgeshire canary

Nuff Said 5,131 Posted January 8, 2021 Am I wrong to be excited at the prospect of Onel playing again? He's not the complete player, but at his best he is great to watch and can be a game changer. I think it's possible he could be what we need to go up a level, and maybe start to pull away from the pack.

That and he's a fantastic player with a top attitude who always puts a good shift in and you can tell he loves being here at the club, and wholeheartedly loves this club. His recent appearance on the podcast was great. Edited January 8, 2021 by cambridgeshire canary

Personally I thought Onel was our best player by a country mile when the Premier League resumed, and looked every inch a player at home at that level. He caused Man Utd a lot of problems from memory. He brings pace, urgency and directness and I believe once he’s back in the squad we’ll see a few matches turning from 2-1 to 3 or maybe even 4-1. He has been missed.

He didn't say that about Mumba, so I interpreted that to mean that he's under consideration for a starting place.

Mumba doesn't sound like a cert to start, and therefore I imagine he'll replace Aarons at h/t, or vice versa. Imagine the same will be for Cantwell, swapped with Hernandez at half time. Clint 221 Posted January 8, 2021 I have absolutely no idea why we would risk Aaron’s unless we want to cup-tie him and/or Byram is back soon?

Bovril 219 Posted January 8, 2021 (edited) I think we can forget about Byram, definitely in the short-term. I don't think he'll be back before March at the earliest. The last quotes on him a week or so ago from Farke were along the lines of 'he's not back running yet, we'll take our time with him, no rush' and no time scales were provided. Great to have Mumba back though after that superb debut against Swansea. He looked like Max Aarons V.2. I believe he starts. There's a big reason Sunderland fans had the pitchforks out when they sold him to us. Steal of the century
TheGunnShow 5,940 Posted January 8, 2021 Aarons can use a breather for me. He's still playing well, but there seems to be a little fatigue here and there. He's earned a break, and Mumba needs the game time.
Gordon Bennett 783 Posted January 8, 2021 You’d imagine Aarons, Skipp, Pukki, Hanley and Sorensen might all get a rest as they’ve played a lot of games recently.

Spillay 180 Posted January 9, 2021 The likes of Aarons, Pukki, Emi, Skipp, Hanley, Sorenson should not be anywhere near that squad tomorrow, wrap them up in cotton wool is stating the obvious Id of thought!
