Not much talk about the young keeper for what must have been incredibly difficult to come into.

I didn't watch tonight but it must have been bloody tough for a 19 year old old to put in a performance and hold his nerve.

What are peoples thoughts

He did fine but I don’t get the ‘he’s only 19 stuff’: He’s a professional footballer who’s been around the first XI for some time - if he wasn’t up to it then DF/SW need shooting.

Looks fairly calm with the ball at his feet. Had little to do other than smother a header straight at him and pick the ball out the net. No drama really.

And tip a Grant Hanley header over his own bar. Kind of ironic that Grant should win so many headers in the opposition box and consistently miss the target with all of them, but then get one 'on target' in our box.

That was probably Zimmerman's fault

The two he saved were straight at him. Didn't need to jump above people to catch the ball or punch at any stage. Dived well against the penalty but the QPR man held his nerve.

Thought he looked composed and unperturbed by the situation. Would be happy to see him for the 90 minutes against Barnsley should McGovern not recover.

Hanley should've had at least 3 goals this season. He just needs to keep his headers down.

Barden did well enough. Didn't do anything wrong and he seems fairly relaxed/confident/able with the ball at his feet.

It'll be interesting to see which one of our youth keepers rises to the top of the pile, as we seem to have a few hot prospects. At the beginning of the season, I would have said Aston Oxbrough was the most likely, however Archie Mair is getting rave reviews, Barden has done well and McCracken has just signed a new contract. Future looks bright in the goalkeeping department!

Fair play to him! Couldn’t do much for the penalty but at least he went the right way. I think he could be an excellent keeper in the making he needs a loan at a higher level than before to expand his skills

If he gets a game or two and does well, it could be the making of him in terms of his career. Some players need that lucky break as youngsters - that Leeds goalie who is a rookie and is doing brilliantly having got his chance is an example.

Barden looked very comfortable and the save he made that was straight at him was not easy. Also, the way we played at the back after he came on was important to our dominating the game from there on in - instant passes out from him helped the momentum and made it harder for QOR players to put the defence under pressure.  Even Krul dithers at times when a simple pass out is all that is required.  Good goalie there, hope he gets - and makes the best of his chance.

Thought he did well. As rightly said, it's an unusual way to come into a game and especially when it's your league debut. Composed with the ball at his feet (that is often the first bit that goes wrong with a keeper when nerves kick in) and saved what he could, and got close to the penalty.

He's clearly still got some filling out / developing to do, but as an emergency back-up for a few games he'll do nicely. Would like to see him on loan at League Two level. In fact, Bolton wouldn't be a bad side to do it at as they like getting it on the floor under Evatt and the lad they took on loan from Fleetwood has been very poor.

So our top 3 goalkeepers are all injured at the same time, the fourth choice out on loan and no one seems to be criticising the planning and resourcing in that position.

We're playing our 5th choice goalie, our 4th or 5th choice left back, we still have no wingers available, no cover for right back yet we're 3 points clear at the top of the league.

It's difficult for Barden to be put in this position. We have got God knows how many players loaned out for experience and we are trusting this young lad in an important game, when he hasn't been playing for the U21's.

I mentioned this at the start of the season and evidently the next option is emergency loans. The Krul injury is dragging on just like the Quintilla injury.

We must have a look at this position in the January transfer window, it is a good opportunity for a goalkeeper. Oxborough looks a quality keeper but his development has been put back by injury.

I would also like to see a defensive left back brought in and perhaps a centre half.
