Who Am I - NCFC edition

Recommended Posts

Just a bit of fun. Simply work out who each of the ex players or club figures are. Some easier than others. Anyone who gets all 15 earns my unerring respect as I think some of these are pretty hard.

1) Record appearance holder (673 apps)

2) Record goals in a season - 31 league goals + 2 cup goals

3) Most capped NCFC player (35 international appearances)

4) Scorer of NCFC's THIRD goal in European football

5) Striker who made just 4 apps for NCFC but 64 for Leicester

6) Scandinavian who scored as many goals for the club as Matthias Jonnson and Johann Elmander combined, in just 7 appearances.

7) Appeared for his national side in 1984 Euros and 1986 World cup. Also managed Swansea.

8 ) First Wembley goalscorer for NCFC

9) Made 15 appearances for Norwich. Some whilst we were top of the top flight. Lost his place after a 6-2 defeat.

10) The only NCFC player to represent Montserrat. He also managed them.

11) The manager that signed Bryan Gunn

12) 1966 World Cup winner

13) Former Watford, Colchester and Wales U23 goalkeeper. Never played for Norwich.

14) Was once asked on live TV, whether he liked Victoria Beckham and whether he was being paid the same as Ronaldinho in the same interview.

15) Embarked on a career as a TV presenter after leaving NCFC. Also designs percussion instruments.

If I remember correctly then 4) was not a frequent goal scorer.

You do remember correctly. Think I recall listening to the radio (back when no internet meant as an exile it was normally following through teletext, so radio was a treat) and him scoring against Villa one year too.

Number 6- did he only make 7 appearances or more overall? If the second then I know it.

Just the 7 in total. Scored against Sheff Utd if that helps

1.) Keelan

2.) Ralph Hunt

3.) Hoolahan, Peters or Pukki. Not sure. Peters? No changed mind, Pukki?

4.) Johnny Polston

5.) Ade Akinbiyi

6.) Must be Matthias Svensson surely?

7.) Not sure

8.) CamJam!

9.) No idea

10.) Ruel Fox

11.) Ken B

12.) Martin Peters

13.) His son had a better career with Spurs - and England!

14.) Hucks?

15.) As a drummer, this one’s easy - Dion and his Dube

Just looked it up now and I think you can at least double that, Tiger

Google is saying Hoolahan but it’s not correct - I think!

Strange wording for the most capped player and seems flawed either way.
If current players:
Pukki has 86 caps, a lot more than 35.

If all time:
Helveg has 108 caps, a lot more than 35.

Has to be Helveg then?

Maybe, I wasn't necessarily taking a guess at who I think has the most. Just pointing out someone who clearly has more than 35. Could it be 35 caps, while playing for Norwich is the question rather than during their career?

Doesn’t state that, Steel - so I think you’ve called it bang on 👍. Even if it was current players, Pukki’s got way more than 37.

Fun quiz though, cheers KIO. I’ll be happy with 8 correct, be interested to know!

I'm guessing it's caps won whilst playing for Norwich? Or that's how I understood it.

Hoolahan won 43 caps for Ireland, of which 42 were during his time with us, so is he the answer?

If that were the case, Wacky, who’s got 37 whilst being at Nodge? Was it Grant Holt under Hodgson?

I think that one was my bad - I used an out of date stat. For the record, yes it was caps won whilst with us, and you're right, hoolahan has superceded Bowen's 35

Really impressed you got Ruel Fox. I thought that was incredibly obscure!

I remember it only because I read a Ruel Fox interview not so long back funnily enough, otherwise I’d have been stumped I think! Some of them were a process of elimination and guesswork - the Hucks one springing to mind, though I seem to recall it was in his book. I’ll take 10/15 though!, not great but ok I guess. You should do more of these, KIO! 👍
