Who says any new signing would be a backup? We might bring someone in who ends up playing the majority of matches.

And with only Gibson, Hanley and Zimmermann, one short-term injury becomes an emergency, and I'm not convinced we have any adequate alternative options, never mind several.

Well, I would argue that only two injuries becomes an emergency. One would still mean we have two decent full backs available.

And if we were going to bring in someone better than Zimbo and Hanley, I think we would have planned that already.

But we're not relying on someone like Tettey as permanent CB are we. We've got 3 specialist CBs at the mo, for 2 of them to be long term injured at the same time is improbable.

Improbable but not impossible of course, as amply demonstrated last season.

However that was bonkers. How often has that happened in PL history? I'd say it's a once in a generation event, & you can't decide a transfer policy based on those sort of odds.

God give me strength! We now have just 3 CBs to choose from! That's LESS than we had during the "improbable" loss of 3 of them to injury last season. In fact the only CB that remained injury-free last season just left for Everton to be replaced by someone who hasn't played regularly for 2 years! We cannot go into this season with this level of CB cover, it's suicide!

The loaning out of Klose does look rather daft if we are not signing a replacement.

Not long back we were saying 4 wasn't enough when Ben left, now we're down to 3.

Add that to our lack of cover at LB, and God forbid we sell Max, it does seem all rather shambolic at the moment all when we are supposed to be building a squad to challenge for promotion.

I think having two fit centre backs and no others available, not even for the bench, is somewhat of an emergency.

And someone better than Zimmermann and Hanley may not have been available earlier in the window but they are now, such as Saliba or Carter-Vickers, who have been discussed today. Chelsea were also trying to let go of Rudiger on deadline day and ultimate failed, and whilst he is clearly out of any Championship club's reach, it could open the door for someone like Tomori, or more realistically Clarke-Salter as he's miles away from the first team.

Of course we will bring someone in.

They aren't that nuts.

Chill out.

I really, really want to believe this but I've got a horrible, nagging feeling that we're going to leave either the centre back or left back hole vacant.

NCFC would sell the Crown Jewels if they owned them at this time. The club is too much financially orientated. Not knocking it as we are a self financing club, but Covid is beginning to bite, and regardless of the DF comment ‘we don’t have to sell’, we do. Its not just about transfer fees, but high earners have to be, and will be, moved on!

Yeah I suspect the Covid induced loss of revenue is a lot more serious than initially planned for, and we will be selling to maintain financial stability. Of course from a sporting competitive point of view the effect of this is relative; if it is bad for us, it's the same or worse for the other Championship clubs.

If that was true Norwich would have sold Aarons, Emi or Cantwell on the cheap by now.

Norwich could have made an awful lot more money so far this summer if they really needed to, but they have kept their prices high (much to the frustration of a couple of players at least).

Klose leaving is logical, he is 32 and wants to play football, not be a 4th choice at Norwich and it seems this move largely comes from him wanting out - not Norwich wanting him out.

Yes they could. They won’t sell on the cheap, (who said they would, but they will have to sell along with market forces). There is still much time and another window for players to be sold, so be careful what you wish for!

William Saliba Arsenal on loan is a rumour doing the rounds

Did you seen the quote from Michael Bailey on the previous page? “Nothing in those Saliba links yesterday either.”

We're so naive, we're making the same mistakes we made last year. No cover and then using square pegs in round holes.

Take Max out, cause he may or may not be here in two weeks time.

That leaves us with;

2 players who are on loan.

3 players with historical injury issues.

Give me strength.
