season ticket refund options announced

Recommended Posts

Despite the letter from the club saying pro rata season tickets refunds would be available from today  (ie 10 days after the preston match) this is not the case.

Having spoken to the club, I understand given the govt change on gathererings, the entire process is being reviewed and a letter being sent to season ticket holders by end of the week to explain.

An update is due on their website today.

That's a shame that they have chosen to change it as I actually thought it was a very well thought out scheme.

I wonder if they feel it will just be quicker/cheaper to do in a "few hits", rather than after every game.

Yep.I reckon they will just write off the season and ask fans if they want a refund or to defer and use their credit towards next season. If they happen to be able to get fans in to any games they can just let ST holders have first option and charge them by the game.

You must clearly be a gammon. Lot's of people in tricky situations at the moment with more and more finding it difficult and needing to be more careful. Last thing they need is a Daily Mail reader wafting their stink about the place.

Well like most things at the moment a fortnight is a long time, things happen and decision making changes. There is very little chance of fans in any numbers at all being able to return to grounds this season. Germany are held up as one of the few countries that have done a half decent job with this pandemic, it is interesting to see what their current rule are. They are i believe maximum 20% capacity AND only clubs in areas that have a current infection rate of  35/100000 or less. At the moment most of Norfolk would be ok, but a slight question mark over Gt yarmouth but an enormous number of clubs up and down the country would fail the less than 35/100000, probably most of the PL at the moment, plus things change so quickly the figures can be ok one week and very different a week later. I went to York for a night earlier in the month when we went it was 5/100000 today it is over 50/100000. I would be content if we just accepted that next seasons season tickets are frozen and this years money paid for them,in my case i have paid the whole lot up front. I appreciate others may have a different view and some may not want to bother at all having a season ticket next year, there will come a point if this drags on and on that a lot of people will just bail out of season tickets

I reckon this must be one of the key lines on the club's risk register - going to football's as much a habit as anything else, and there'll certainly be a percentage of people that haven't missed it as much as perhaps they thought they would when the restrictions first came in.

It'll be interesting to see if iFollow gets a foothold, as I think there's a product there that could be marketed successfully if some real effort went into it alongside 'normal' attendance as and when crowds are allowed back in.

The infection rate is one part of the logic of banning fans. Public transport and socialising before and after a game in pubs etc is I’m sure part of the reasoning for the ban. The street scenes from “up North” help to justify and support the Govt action which affects us all.

Maybe i am having a senior moment but i do not understand why there needs to be a review of a refund due for a game which you paid to attend but were prevented from doing because of something beyond your control. Where the Govt change on gatherings comes into play is beyond me.

I think its a reference to the government making it clear that there is not going to be any relaxation for several months. I ssupect that rather than refund fans game by game they are going to do full or half season refunds or ask if you just want you money to pay for next seasons ST instead.

I think Jim is right.  That and they maybe about to pause direct debits for those using them.  Not really much point in collecting money just to pass it back out again.

Having checked the website, and not able to see any promised update I have just called again, and been told there is a meeting discussing 'everything Covid, and the perceived no crowds for 6 months' No official announcement for a couple of days though.

I did suggest they put a quick couple of lines on so people arent chasing them on new systems / processes.

Im not having a go the club, as things are changing all the time, however it's not hard to keep us informed is it ? that's all it takes.

Given Norwich City's parachute payments and potential player sales they could live without any season ticket money for one season. Many other smaller clubs may not be so fortunate.

I think many EFL clubs didn’t take season ticket money for this season as no one knew when crowds would be allowed back.

Very much this, there should be something on line as it’s 10 days since the Preston game was played.

Thats my point - their letter said 10 days, thats today, and nothing by way of a refund or explanation.

Maybe Delia has walletted that too! (takes tongue out of cheek!)

Interestingly on Friday we received an email re the weekends grassroots football. Now I don’t know if this was all over the country or just certain areas ( we are West Midlands ). Basically it said there will be checks this week by FA, Health and Safety, local leagues ect to ensure everything was being followed 100%. The next bit is a quote from the email ‘ We must prove that we are responsible and that we are doing everything that we can to mitigate the virus ‘ It then went on to say ‘ The FA feel football is on a knife edge at the moment ‘.

So reading between those lines I wonder if the government have made decisions ( including finance  ) that is about to effect all playing / crowds outside the Championship and EPL.

I will stand to be corrected but I have a feeling we were the only professional club to renew let alone charge for season tickets. If there were more there weren’t many.

I renewed, in full, in February! So (again whilst not entirely the clubs fault) that's £500.00 of my money they have had for 7 months, and I have no idea what is happening with it!

We we told for our Sunday league fixture that we had to use the COVID 19 app, and there would be a QR code to scan at the park. this was mandatory for all players, staff and supporters.

When I got there, not a QR code in sight. No idea what happened!

Likewise....In February before the 1st deadline I paid the best part of £850.00 (in full) for the renewal of my ST....In the current climate I'd much prefer that amount to be in my personal savings account gaining some interest....Although I'm sure NCFC are extremely grateful that they're accruing some financial benefit of having my ST dosh in their account.....

You might have £851 in a year's time with current interest rates!

This is about cash flow. Cash in the club due to Direct Debit collection. The club will ask fans to leave the cash in and have a credit against the future is my guess.

Think this means the club will have to refund your money rather than hold it on account as a credit.

Till you just put this I hadn’t even thought about how our money was being protected. I am sure we are not in any danger of going under like lots of clubs, but how is our money being protected in the unlikely event of a financial crisis.

If you have paid by credit card then you should be ok as over £100.

If like me you are paying by DD that might be a different story, but I'm really not worried about the solvency of the club at this stage. Depending on what happens in the world between now and March though might determine if I renew for 21/22 season.
