Hilarious! Biden is a massive supporter of the Irish, and quite clearly called Boris to warn him that if he f*cked up the Good Friday Agreement he could kiss goodbye to any future FTA. Hardly rocket science.

Oh I see the tactic now! Don't write anything because there's a 100% chance it will be a steaming pile of cr*p. BTW pop over to the Reform Party thread. We're still waiting for you to provide an analysis of the link you posted. You know, the one that says the complete opposite to what you claimed thicko!

"Priti Patel bullying inquiry concluded ‘Home Secretary broke ministerial behaviour rules"

"A draft report about Priti Patel’s conduct concluded in the summer that she broke the rules on ministers’ behaviour"

"The report has not been published, but a source told BBC News the report concluded that the "Home Secretary had not met the requirements of the ministerial code to treat civil servants with consideration and respect".

They told the BBC the investigation had found evidence of bullying, even if it had not been intentional.

A second source added that the report was "unambiguous in stating that Priti Patel broke the ministerial code and that the prime minister buried it".

This report was produced months ago and Johnson has sat on it ever since. Patel should have already resigned as is the convention of ministers found guilty of breaching the Ministerial Code. But of course no one will be suprised that she hasn't, given her egregious record as a politician. Johnson's pusillaminous failure to sack her demonstrates yet again that he lacks the moral fibre and judgement to fill the role of PM. Day-by-day the evidence mounts that this Government functions more like a Mafia mob. £Millions of tax-payers money handed out to their mates in dodgy contracts, planning permission given on the sly to Tory party donors, and cabinet ministers bullying and threatening their workers. What a disgusting rabble!

Is anyone surprised in the least about Johnson's backing of Patel? Just heard the news of the resignation of Alex Allan.

He learns nothing.

It's just the same as lack of standards as per Cummings and Barnard Castle.

No morals, no backbone, no standards. Sum's Johnson and his government up nicely.

What a disgrace! The only person to resign is the guy who pointed out the bullying not the bully.

Priti Patel ‘was warned about swearing at staff in August 2019’, Sir Philip Rutnam claims (msn.com)

"Priti Patel ‘was warned about swearing at staff in August 2019’, Sir Philip Rutnam claims"

Sir Philip Rutnam said it was “not correct” that Ms Patel did not receive feedback about her behaviour, as suggested in a standards report that found she had broken the ministerial code.

"He also revealed he was “not asked to contribute evidence” to the report. Sir Philip resigned as Ms Patel’s permanent secretary in February after accusing her of a “vicious and orchestrated briefing campaign” and is suing the government for constructive dismissal."

"His intervention came after Ms Patel issued an “unreserved apology” while also describing any upset caused as “completely unintentional”, adding: “Of course it says it in the report, that issues were not pointed out to me.”

In a statement released through the FDA union for civil servants’, Sir Phillip said: “The advice states that no feedback was given to the Home Secretary and that she was therefore unaware of issue that she might otherwise have addressed. This is not correct.

“As early as August 2019, the month after her appointment, she was advised that she must not shout and swear at staff. I advised her on a number of further occasion between September 2019 and February 2020 about the need to treat staff with respect, and to make chances to protect safety and wellbeing."

So she has already lied that she wasn't made aware of her bullying behaviour (as if anyone believed that anyway). So that's two breaches of the ministerial code.

And her apology is completely disingenious:

"I’m here to give an unreserved apology today and I am sorry if I have upset people in any way whatsoever"

Notice the use of the conditional "if" rather than the declarative "that". The report makes clear that she upset many people, it's categorical not conditional.

And then we find out that Johnson tried to get the report writer to water down its findings:

PM ‘tried and failed to get investigator to water down’ Patel bullying report (msn.com)

"Boris Johnson is facing questions over the official inquiry that found Home Secretary Priti Patel bullied staff amid allegations he tried to pressure his standards advisor to water it down."

In more noble times both would resign over such scandalous behaviour, but this is a Government rotten to the core. So it falls upon the report writer to resign as the only way to register a protest. Sad times for the integrity of the Ministerial Code.

I've said it many times, as have others. This woman is fundamentally corrupt and should be allowed nowhere near any public office. Forced to resign from her previous office for "treasonous" behaviour (a Tory MPs word not mine). Found guilty of bullying by an independent report. And now this. What hold does she have on the pusillaminous Johnson?

And let's not forget her previous NON-apologies. The one regarding the Government's chronic ****-up over supplying sufficient PPE is classic egregious Patel:

"I am sorry if people feel there have been failings".

(Non-apologies for coronavirus deaths are not good enough | UK | GCFRNG - NIGERIA BREAKING NEWS TODAY | Breaking News)

At the time, of course, NHS staff were contracting and dying of Covid-19 infection. "Poisonous" is one amongst many malign adjectives that fit this profoundly immoral woman.

I think he's been away at Dulux again modeling for the new Gammon Red range. They want to add "Exploding red rage" to the existing colours. Either that or he's disappeared up his own fat ar*se.

The scandal deepens. Not only did Johnson attempt to interfere with the inquiry report to water down its conclusions, he also prevented the inquiry from interviewing the key witness during its process. At the very least Patel has to go.

Officials ‘blocked access to witness’ in Priti Patel inquiry (msn.com)

"Officials ‘blocked access to witness’ in Priti Patel inquiry"

Boris Johnson’s former adviser on ministerial standards was prevented from interviewing a key witness for his formal bullying inquiry into Priti Patel, an act that stopped him accessing the home secretary’s foremost accuser.

Legal and Whitehall sources have revealed that Sir Alex Allan sought to interview the former top Home Office civil servant Sir Philip Rutnam about his dealings with Patel, but was blocked by government officials.

Allan’s bullying inquiry was launched by the prime minister following the resignation of Rutnam over’s Patel’s alleged behaviour and he is suing the government for constructive dismissal. Sources say Allan was informed he could not interview Rutnam for his independent inquiry because of the legal action.

Allan, however, felt that his inquiry was being denied potentially crucial evidence. The inability of the prime minister’s former ethics adviser to question Rutnam also prompted a “spirited row” within the government’s legal department."

"Meanwhile, a former Tory cabinet minister said the fact that Patel could survive was extraordinary enough, but equally incredible was the prime minister’s behaviour in rallying his MPs behind an effort to defend her.

The senior figure, now on the backbenches, said: “He [Johnson] has a formal role, a kind of judicial role, in the process. He should at least try to show respect for that. Instead he just sticks two fingers up at the whole process."

You are so on the money. Government designed to consolidate all power, make outrageous claims of success where there is only average or below average achievement, and preference to reward failure. A characteristic of both US and UK governments under center-right party rule for more than a decade, brought into the full glare of public awareness by two bumbling authoritarians, Donald Trump and Boris Johnson.

Yep, all pretty disgusting but seemingly there is b****r all we can do about it unless a fairly sizeable group of Tory MPs discover that they have a conscience or that they see their longer term prospects severely damaged by association with this total sleazeball of a government - and frankly there is no sign so far of either of those things happening.

I think we've always known that we were stuck with this shower of sh*t until 2024, what we didn't know or expect is that they were going to be quite as useless, incompetent and corrupt as they've actually turned out to be.

Queen Elizabeth II has granted Russian-British media mogul Yevgeny Lebedev the title of “Baron of Hampton and Siberia.” The Russian businessman is due to be sworn in as the first Russian member of the House of Lords next month

Can you how apoplectic the media would be if the Labour leader had put someone in the House of Lords and they took the title "Baron of Hampton and Siberia"?

Also the first member of the House of Lords with known connections to the KGB (Moscow-born Lebedev is the son of Alexander Lebedev, a former member of the KGB, who was stationed at the Soviet Union's London embassy in the 1980s. Last year, the Guardian newspaper reported that Johnson had met with the elder Lebedev in Italy).
