No doubt Jools will turn up in a minute with evidence that Clive Lewis didn't declare he borrowed a tent to go camping at Whittlingham.

Probably had his breakfast served by "piccaninies with watermelon smiles", sent his postcards home via "muslim women letter-boxes", and spent his time avoiding the "tank-topped bum-boys" on the beach.

Wales are going to trial the Universal Basic Income scheme.

Tories say its a failed left wing policy. Before its even been tested. Why? What is wrong in wanting people to have a basic standard of living?

Of course, they said the minimum wage would bankrupt businesses and ruin the nation. But two years ago were bragging about low unemployment.

Will they each get a sheep, a daffodil and bag of leaks?

Indeed always a reason why it didn’t matter, the latest from Priti.

The glorious irony is that the notion of a negative income tax, which is essentially a basic income in reverse, was pioneered by Milton Friedman yet this is apparently a "left-wing thing".

Leaks are what the government does so well. I suspect you're trying to raise a titter with a hilarious stereotype about leeks.

And more FFS.

The egregious slimy toad has just lied about it on Marr's show. Said he just "pinged" it on to the department when in actuality he forwarded it with a recommendation that it came from an ex-Tory MP and was an "excellent" proposal. This bunch of spivs just don't care that their corruption is so public.

At least they were suitable, the Patel one was asking them to reconsider on a product classed as ‘ not suitable ‘.

And indeed how did he know it was excellent, he had to concede he had not looked at the proposal / product.

PM's ex-aide sorry for ok'ing £187m loan to property firm he advised

One of Boris Johnson's longest serving aides apologised last night for approving a £187million loan under-written by the taxpayer for a property developer he was being paid to advice.

Lord Udny-Lister green-lit a payment by affordable housing authority Homes England to Delancey, a firm which has built luxury flats in the Olympic Park in East London.

The peer, who as Sir Edward Lister worked for many years with Boris Johnson in No10 and City Hall in London, was a paid strategic adviser to the firm at the time it was made in May 2019.

Last night when the loan was revealed by the Sunday Times Lord Udny-Lister said: 'I apologise for not taking sufficient steps to prevent any perception of a conflict.'

Too late for Daffs. And the leaks are normally from Number 10. But I'm sure you meant leeks.

Apology not accepted. Has there ever been a more corrupt bunch since the Marcos' or Shah if Iran?

As 26/5 approaches Cummings begins to drip feed info.

Earlier, Cummings accused the government and Whitehall of too much "secrecy" which "contributed greatly to the catastrophe" of the handling of Covid.

"Openness to scrutiny would have exposed Govt errors weeks earlier than happened," he tweeted.

In a series of tweets ahead of his appearance before a select committee next week, he said the government's Covid plan had been "part disaster, part non-existent".

Have always detested Cummings and still do, but funnily enough that statement about the Covid plan and response is pretty much exactly what many of us, without inside knowledge, were saying at the time.

It was point of view totally denied and at times furiously attacked back then by the Tory loyalists and the RWNJs (I think there is a still a slight difference) on here who seemed to regard criticising government incompetence at a time of national crisis as in extremely bad taste, merely scoring political points, or near treason (or perhaps all three in some cases 😀).

The reality of course is that we have unquestionably been proven correct and that it wasn't politcal point scoring against a government we didn't like - that would have just been a bonus if the situation wasn't so grave and the consequences of the government's incompetence so catastrophic.

As Cummings also points out, if the press and the public generally had been critical and specifically Tory MPs had done their job and held their own government to account instead of just nodding every mistake through then many of the mistakes could have been avoided or at least mitigated much quicker.

So 26/05 will be interesting, Johnson is still clearly doing everything he can to delay the Public Enquiry for as long as possible but that could well be yet another misjudgement on his part if Cummings damns him this month - I'm sure Johnson would prefer the press to be reporting on the progress of a PE over the next few weeks/months than on what Cummings has had to say to the Select Committee

Cummings is an odious man who is not half as clever as he thinks he is. Probably still smarter than Johnson and his cronies though.

When Cummings goes before the Select Committee and drops Boris in it, will all the Tories who defended Cummings then say he is a liar who cannot be trusted.

Ah, but you'll recall they were forced to tweet messages of support for Cummings on that famous occasion....with most tweets being exactly the same and tweeted within minutes of each other. Whipped to tweet I believe. The same will happen again but this time with the opposite message. That's the standard we now expect and have to get used to.

Spoke to a chap at Golf today who wants to go visit Australia. The conversation got round to handling the pandemic and I criticised what the Government had done apart from the vaccine rollout.

He replied "Well Corbyn wouldn't have been able to do it as well"

So thats two things. SKS has been leader for a year and some people don't even know. Bit of blame attached to him and them I think. And Boris gets off the hook because someone not involved with it wouldn't have been as good as Boris.

What chance the world?

Absolutely, agree with all of that, and it will be interesting to hear what he has to say as he was unquestionably there and involved in pretty much everything that happened last year. Whether what we hear from him is the truth, or his version of the truth, who knows but almost certainly it is going to be radically different from Johnson's version of the truth.

And since we already know that Johnson's version of the truth is a tissue of lies then I think what Cummings has to say is going to gain considerable traction and hopefully severely damage Johnson and his cronies.

I understand that when Cummings left all his personal papers should have been left and his email made non existent. My understanding is Downing St did not do their proper security, and these emails, papers and encoded what’s app chats will be released to the committee to show he is telling it as it was.
