I wasn't having a dig at you Sonyc. I just wanted to reflect on LYB denigrating the rest of us. We all know you are the voice of reason in most areas. I would say above standard.

Todd is resuming Toddstock again this year from 17-25 June in Hawaii. That would be something else to go to. To get to sing and play with the great man would be a big highlight. I could take my Sax and jam.

I know you weren't! .... The "now now" was just a little joke. And wouldn't be upset even if you were quite honestly.

I like folk who offer different ideas to me I must admit. Makes me think even if I disagree. But then, it's a great comfort to find like-minded people. There's loads of good folk about actually.

Off topic....(I did try and relate Rundgren to politics) I would love to see Todd one more time (he is 75 this year). Mrs S keeps telling me we should go (he still tours a lot). Last time was 1982 I think - in a tiny venue and it was just him! I've been writing new music myself too (stopped in 1995).

I don't take issue with people discussing it; I take issue with people dragging it into every single bloody discussion of everything. Russian war on Ukraine? Brexit. Even came up on a flipping football thread the other day. Just throwing in random irrelevant opinions like they're fact. Absolutely ridiculous.

It is a fact that the post-Brexit rules on transfer qualifications have had a significant negative effect on Norwich City, in terms of making unavailable players from lower-level clubs of the kind we so successfully bought in the past. The club has on more than one occasion said that the ending of free movement has made this so.

As a direct result it set up a scouting organisation in South America to try to compensate for this reduced European availability. So it is hardly randomly irrelevant for posters to mention this.

At the same time, that's a perfect example of an organisation accepting the situation and adapting to the new market conditions as fast as possible, which is the healthy response.

"We don't want all these cheap Europeans coming over here, stealing out jobs!"😡

"What about these cheaper South Americans?"

"Yeah, that'll be fine."👍

Ludicrous really, when you think about it.

We clearly both have a very high regard for Sonyc's manner and approach; that's why I felt the urge to compliment his style in response to a comment that made me chuckle. There was no intent to denigrate anyone else.

Good to see Shell doing so well. 😬

Yes, good luck to them. I wonder if YF bought shares with all his dollars?

I'd rather Shell had big profits, some of which is turned into tax, than see the same money go to Gazprom and get turned into RPG29s

I am slightly concerned that the easy profits to be made until the war ends will discourage investment in renewables.  I'm not sure how the UK government can influence a multinational mega company that makes 95% of profits elsewhere but if there are steps that can be taken I'd certainly welcome them.

They expect to pay £500M to the windfall tax pot. And say they are happy to do this.

So

a) Is Shell lying?

b) Is our Government lying?

c) Are both lying?

I'm afraid I take energy companies assertion about renewables with a pinch of sodium chloride.

That is going to make you friends. Is there now a League Table for posters. Can they be reported to OffPink if we don't like their posts or aren't up to sonyc's standard?

A league table is a great idea

Come the beginning of May, when @sonyc is being presented with the trophy, whoever has come last would have to apply to everyone else for re-election. If they fail, they are relegated to TWTD

Guitar (have a bass, keyboard and one of those programmable drum kits too). I just make my own stuff up.

Well, it is making the best of a bad job since for NCFC in an ideal world we would still be able to recruit the European-based undiscovered jems as well.

But, as an FT survey a couple of months back showed, for many companies that relied overwhemingly on exporting niche products with a UK cachet, such as quality teas, to the continent, Brexit has been a disaster.

If NCFC want to import a Brazilian player instead of a now ruled-out European they just put them on a plane, as before, at no extra cost. But for these companies to export to the continent is now prohibitively expensive and time-consuming. As they told the FT, there is no financially healthy solution.

Best of a bad job, for sure, but there's still a need to adapt; there really is no choice and the club did well to make efforts to steal a march building new relationships.

What's interesting on this side of the channel though  some small companies that specialised in getting niche products over in small volumes for expat communities now seem to have actually worked harder to grow distribution. I've noticed a lot more choice of British beers in French supermarkets than we had before we actually ended the transition period. It says to me they've done the work to grow the volumes to make the added bureaucracy worthwhile.

There's a lot more adapting that can be done in my view. It might not be convenient to deal with importers on the continent on the face of it, but on the flip side importers can bring language and market specific knowledge to the table that could actually finish up with more effective market pénétration than just casual order fulfillment.

Nah. I never had the depth of squad to last the season. And if the trophy is based on politeness and temperance, well everyone can just f*** right off.

And back to topic Sunak is a c*** and Raab a b*****d who will last only to the end of Feb. And if he doesn't the f****r will be voted out by the same voters who put him in as an MP in 2024.

Edit: There! That should surely put me back into mid-table obscurity. Invisibility is king🙂

You missed hanging BoJo with that f***ing zipcord and humiliating Truss and Kwarteng with a dodgy sex video tape. Poor effort. I expected better. 😉

Talking of BoJo I see he is spending the week in the US. No doubt bringing back the nation some hard earned foreign currency.

Hope his constituents are OK. Mind you, if they voted for him, tough.

Who'd have thought that my well written, thousand word essays on politics, the human condition and football tactics would be so popular?!
