New Tory Leader

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000yprm/panorama-david-cameron-and-the-missing-billions

That a former Tory prime minister of this country should prioritise his rapacious personal greed above the dignity of his former office perhaps explains why the current government is so riddled with corrupt ministers and politicians at every level.  It seems the first question is, "How much do I get?", and only then is it enquired, "What do you want me to do?".

That Cameron thinks it an adequate response that, "I was not aware of any corruption at Greensill" speaks volumes. He sat in on board meetings, and travelled the world as an ex-PM of the UK encouraging investors to put billions into a corrupt company, yet tells us he was not remotely aware of, or interested in finding out, how that company was financing its operations. That he then stalked Sunak and co with multiple texts and calls begging for hundreds of millions of UK taxpayer's cash to prop up the corrupt company is virtually beyond moral comprehension. The man is an utterly, utterly shameless ars*hole.

And a Parliamentary committee has said he didn't break the code. Its not in code, ask for a copy of the Panorama programme.

Whoops, forgot, the BBC is just a bunch of Marxists.

Many countries either are or intend to trial the four day working week (one of Maggie's pledges for the future).

Our Government say they have no intention at this stage.

Indeed! But let's be honest, they tend not to discuss blatant corruption at such meetings when it's so much more convenient to do it via much more secretive WhatsApp groups.

Government hypocrisy continues apace:

Former Taxpayers’ Alliance boss handed taxpayer-funded job by Priti Patel

In his previous role at the TaxPayers’ Alliance, Mr Isaby had criticised government spending on communications staff – attacking “unnecessary” PR jobs in the NHS.

A 2015 TaxPayers’ Alliance report condemned “the emergence of a growing class of “spin-doctors” and their remit goes beyond the basic requirements of government communication”.

Very selective, if renowned, poll. Others give Labour more.

Must be frustrating for Starmer to see his opponent keep getting back up again. There's no accounting for it but they just seem to like Boris.🤔

Must be the haircut.

Johnson's fees were paid for via scholarship - not his family. Which is said to contribute to his sense of superiority. As he was there on merit, not money.

Unfortunately, this failure to grasp his very obvious limitations led to

Johnson is a fraud and a charlatan, with all the depth of a half inch puddle and the sincerity of an estate agent.

He hides behind a carefully crafted projection of being a 'character'... which requires him to take considerable time over his appearance, in order to make himself look unkempt. The latin quotes are no more than the same ploy used by Enoch Powell - well rehearsed before being dropped into conversation as if he were fluent in the classics.

That stupid people are fooled by him is no great shock. Jeffrey Archer was adored by the bigoted faithful - until the mask and cloak were removed (another charlatan and shyster). Similarly, Jimmy Savile was able to carry off a persona of being a harmless, even lovable, eccentric.

That there has been so many about turns, as well as gaffes, is testament to the perception of his former housemaster. Johnson has neither the intellect, nor the ability to see beyond his own self delusion. Unaware of how out of step he is with current thinking, or the reality of any given topic. His is a world where time is better spent on writing a joke than studying 'his brief'. A classic case of the line 'some of my best ad libs..... took months to write'.

And it is to that end the Archbishop of Yorks comments are aimed at... sort of. Blaming those who can see through Johnson's act, for alienating those who cannot, or will not. Much the same line was trotted about the so called 'remainers' and their sneering attitude towards brexiteers - one which supposedly drove Brexiteers into the arms of Farage - rather than it being his crude use of naked racism and xenophobia. Which when considered is a tacit acknowledgement of the stupidity of brexit, if not why then the comment on remainers attitude. Likewise with the Hartlepool by election where voters allegedly wanted to punish Labour............ for not doing enough to protect them from a decade of Tory austerity.

However, It all does all smack of a need to distract from the real cause - those who have consistently lied about brexit, their intentions towards the NHS and funding of social provision in general. It is not us, the old Etonians, the MPs lining their pockets through corruption and the friends in the City. It is the newly named 'woke' - who through such things as Black Lives Matter, gay marriage and environmental concerns have caused your woes.

And who better to put over this misrepresentation of the truth, than a man who has spent his whole adult life misrepresenting the truth (lying).

An expert in his field.

Only fair to point out that Enoch Powell was intellectually quite a powerhouse though - indeed even my old history teacher, who said of himself that he was a bona-fide Communist, said that whilst the Tories didn't tend to have many great intellects in their ranks, Powell was certainly one.

IIRC didn't he double-star both his Latin and Greek exams and generally have quite a flair for languages?

perhaps we could be shown where the bloated buffoons poll ratings are in that poll

or

"His overall approval rating has fallen to -16, down from the -13 he recorded two weeks ago and -8 a fortnight before that. It is even lower than the -15 he recorded back in January, when Britain was in the grip of a Covid peak, lockdown measures were in place and the NHS was under severe pressure." 7th Aug

While the party polls continue to fluctuate within a pretty static range, fatboy has been on a steady slide for a while

perhaps it is his lies

Intellectual perhaps, intelligent not

Drop Latin and Greek quotes into your conversation when you know those listening have not the same knowledge, is merely behaving as De;boy with his use of French.....to impress.

Johnson does much the same, only his very limited knowledge is based on swatting up before, so he can pass of his 'ad lib' as an example of his thorough knowledge. And an example of why a learned man like him should not be troubled by the requirements of others ie honesty, trustworthiness and a reasonable degree of integrity.

Powell failed because he spent more time under the bonnet that he did driving. Learning Urdu because he expected to be made governor of India, does not speak of a flair for languages, so much as a man out of touch with reality. That failing was what ultimately 'did for him', as it will Johnson.

Politics requires many skills, most of which Powell lacked

A highly educated idiot, which at least it could be said he was highly educated, something Johnson clearly is not. He is merely an idiot.

The pandemic bounce is rapidly disappearing, and the realities of the brexit clamity are becoming increasingly apparent. Throw in several more scandals, and a few enquiries exposing government corruption, and watch the polls transform in the months ahead.

He certainly did have a flair for languages though. It turned out he had double-starred both in Greek and Latin, and had also produced work in Welsh. Learned Portuguese to some extent as well as the Urdu you mentioned as - again, as you said - he wanted to become Viceroy of India. In fact, didn't he used to speak to some of his constituents in Urdu?

Unlike Johnson who does just swat up before to appear educated in that regard, Powell could walk the walk there.

Indeed! But like his hero Churchill he may just find that once the war (against Covid in his case) is considered won, people will reassess whether they still want this corrupt buffoon in charge.

The thing about polls is that they change, sometimes slowly, sometimes very rapidly. The next couple of years suggest a perfect storm of covid and brexit fall-outs is heading this way soon. Expect the polls to change rapidly.

He's far from indispensible but he is serving a purpose at the moment. If the polls turn down he will be gone before the next election. Lots of water will flow under Trowse bridge between now and then. I am expecting a 2023 GE.
