2 bids turned down for Max.... FROM BARCELONA

Recommended Posts

The other thing is, how Wolves now have enough Portuguese players to field an entire XI, minus one c/b (per the beeb).  This is pretty astonishing- and does raise some questions; we thought we had lots of Germans but only had a handful in comparison!

Slightly off topic - anyone see Passlack got on the pitch against for Dortmund against Gladbach in the Bundesliga. Came on at left back and missed a somewhat open goal.

Kept out of our side by Max and probably rightly so!

He seems to evolved into more of a winger/wingback type these days. Will be interesting to see if he finally makes the grade.

I thought Jedi's dad played on the left?

Yes, but the real question is how did we let his contract run down so he was able to leave us  for nothing?!

Semedo got the right runaround in the champs league quarter-final and while he is generally a good player, don't see him being better than Max.   Plus Max has age and potential on his side.   For that reason, if Semedo is worth £29m, why would we accept any less.

But then another question would surely be, why didn't Wolves pursue Max first?    Especially as he is homegrown.

Strange one.

It's been a bit full circle for Felix, he started out as a right forward and was gradually moved towards defence, it now seems they are gradually moving him back up towards attack again.

He's really worked hard on his vitality and coginess since he left here.

No disrespect but Semedo is a highly experienced full back with tremendous experience in the Champions League and playing for one of the best clubs in the world. Max has played one season in the Premier League. He has great potential but looking at their CV's, I'm not sure that your argument holds water.

The don of football twitter seems to suggest Dest has yet to make his mind up...

Sergiño, if you do occasionally come to our forums like them weird Leeds fans, could you keep them both stringing along until Jan so we can keep Max until then please?

Aaron’s is 20, can run, take on players, most impressively can control the ball under pressure and to be fair he can defend.    His stats also back all that up.   He has immense promise and has proved he can cope every time he steps up a level.    If Bayern and Barca and Tottenham are / have seriously considering him then they must agree.    Farke thinks he’s good enough and is unsurprised by the interest.      None of those clubs generally sign players cheaply and are looking to improve usually.   Semedo has his flaws too and has never fully convinced at Barca (not that any of their defenders have - except Alba).    He’s been in and out of their team.

There is good evidence to suggest Max will be a positive signing even at £30m.

Given the latest Barcelona links i feel we need to be very clear what we agree to. Max is not a Naismith who we are desperate to get off our books and wage bill. He is a key player who is one of the first names on the team sheet and if we have aspirations of going up it will be players like him that make it happen. Yes these are difficult financial times given the lack of spectators but having sold Lewis and the parachute payments the pressure should be off. A loan deal is absolutely out of the question imo under any circumstances, either they buy him or we keep him or sell him to someone that can pay. Barcelona is a big big name but they are £750m in debt, no spectators, terrible COVID and a broken economy. Even an agreement to buy would be foolish, will they be able to pay in 12 months time, what if Max got injured, what if there is a further meltdown in the Spanish economy , why gamble with one of our top assets when there is no need to, there is a danger everyone is getting carried away by the name
