Your preferred starting 11 against Preston?

Recommended Posts

The same starting line up as Huddersfield bar Buendia replacing Dowell on the right:

Krul

Arrons Zimmerman Godfrey Quintilla

Skipp McLean

Buendia Cantwell Hernandez

Pukki

+1 for this with Gibson pushing for a start. Hopefully get him some game time when we are defending a 2 goal lead 😉

I think the above is what we will see. maybe dowell staying in and Todd on the bench.

I would prefer to see Sorensen or Tettey start ahead of McClean but that won't happen.

A lot depends on Emi's fitness, he picked up a strain in pre-season if I remember correctly and Farke isn't one for throwing players back in quickly. I imagine it will be the same starting XI from Huddersfield (injuries permitting) but Buendia will get an appearance from the bench at some point.

If he is fully fit and raring to go, then possibly a start in place of Dowell. No reason to drop anyone from the Huddersfield game as everyone was pretty okay.

Buendia

Buendia Buendia Buendia Buendia

Buendia Buendia

Buendia Buendia Buendia

Pukki

.... Its a team that seems to reflect the circle jerk obsession on here with a player who has hardly performed for a year.

Definitely would rather have Buendia in for Pukki

I don’t quite see why we’d play Vrancic when he’s probably behind several others.  If we were to make a change in front of the defence it’s more likely that it would be Sorensen or Tettey coming in, surely.  I’d probably not start Emi, either.

Krul

Arrons   Godfrey   Gibson   Quintilla

Buendia Skipp Vrancic Placheta

Pukki Idah

We would win 5-4

In all seriousness I thought Pukki and Idah linked up well last week. Pukki actually came alive when Idah came on.

I enjoy the constant hope of the 'start Vrancic' crowd.

We prefer to be called the 'start Vrancic respectfully socially distanced lot'

With Skipp and Vrancic as a two-man midfield pairing, we'd lose 8-3.

Keep in mind I said preferred and not what you think will be the lineup, hence Vrancic- I am well aware there is more chance of Farke sticking Godfrey in midfield than him starting Vrancic.

Well, it would be an entertaining game, but certainly no clean sheet.....

Didn't Farke say he saw Vrancic as more of a number 10? If so, why the dickens would you stick him in defensive midfield?

I'd probably go with this line-up.

GK: Tim KRUL
RB: Max AARONS
RCB: Christoph ZIMMERMANN
LCB: Ben GODFREY
LB: Xavi QUINTILLA
DCM: Oliver SKIPP
DCM: Kenny MCLEAN
RAM: Emi BUENDIA
CAM: Kieran DOWELL
LAM: Todd CANTWELL
CF: Teemu PUKKI

Subs: McGovern (GK), Gibson, Rupp, Hernandez, Placheta, Hernandez, Hugill.

I really want to see Buendia in the hole though. If he's in the hole, then one of our speedsters can take the left flank, and I'd like Rupp on the right then as he's defensively much better, and Aarons can surge from deep to greater effect.

If that were the line-up I'd be winging in a bet on "both teams to score" and probably get pissed to all hell that it ends up 0-0 somehow.

as much as I like Vrancic, this isn't the game for him. Prestons 2 best players are their 2 physical centre mids, Alan Browne and Ben Pearson. Gotta be skipp and McClean in there with Cantwell and Buendia helping to get stuck in as well. Aarons and Hernandez can kill them from out wide then

Farke does not like changing a winning team , plus is buendia 100 percent fit so I think it will be unchanged , with buendia coming on in the second half.😃

Zimmermann played too soon at West Ham soon crocked by Haller.  What a choker that proved to be.  A Farke bringing player back too soon yes he does do it.

Buendia has to come in and then its a question of keeping players sweet..if Farke drops Cantwell in favour of Dowell, the story that would create and the potential fallout in possibly losing him in October makes me wonder if he'll go for the easier option to drop Dowell.

The easier option still is to drop hernandez and keep them both happy

Hernandez has played well since returning from injury and has more often or not looked our most threatening option.

No way does he deserve not to start.

A ‘ 75% fit ‘ Buendia is all that is needed for his return to the side.

Play him and placate him.
