It’s all warming up a bit it seems.

Newcastle would be a logical place to go. Not to mention he has a cousin there in Rolando, and is a similar pacey sort to Yedlin. I said Lewis was well-served to go to Newcastle as he should be able to hit the first team and see how he pushes on, and Aarons would be in the same boat.

Problem would be - can Mumba make the leap straight away? He'd need to, as Byram's still out. If Byram wasn't so injury-prone I'd be more pleased at a potential sale, but at the moment it's more a case of preferring him to stay the season to get back up there. I'd also say Aarons probably needs the "seasoning" of another Championship season a bit less than Godfrey or Cantwell.

Another option at right back is Rupp, Farke said as much when we signed him.

Good point Old Shuck. People always seem to ignore Rupp as a full back option - even though, as you say, Farke made it clear that he was when he signed him.

Max is worth a lot more than £20m!

I’m surprised nobody has come in for him already. A top, top talent who could go right to the top of the game. £20 million a steal if that’s the going rate.

Wouldn't mind seeing that experiment. Rupp gets a fair bit of somewhat harsh stick in my opinion - January signings into struggling sides rarely work out that well, but he also played a part in some of our defensively more solid outings (Newcastle away, Liverpool at home in the league, and did very well against Utd in the FA Cup) and looks to be one of our most diligent men off the ball.

We would need a replacement for this season if he went, maybe another loan because Mumba still hasn't played a league game at right back yet even though he looks a really good player but out of the two currently touted to go I'd much rather lose Aarons than Buendia if I'm being honest.

Honestly we can go around the ****ing houses talking about what we would do if x happened or what would happen if y happened.

I think we just let happen whatever is going to happen and sort it out.

Time for the club to show genuine ambition.    The Lewis loss is enough for this window.

To lose 3 would make us a player factory for other clubs, not an ambitious forward thinking club.    Our squad needs to be based around these lads.   There's no immediate fix to replace Aarons and Buendia or Godfrey.... whatever happens if they go, we are weaker for it.

Well, yes, but it rather defeats the point of a discussion forum.

People need to get used to the fact that these kinds of stories are going to be floating around for the next few weeks.

They also need to prepare themselves for all four of the remaining ‘crown jewels’ leaving as it could happen. No point in keeping players who don’t want to be here if good offers come in.

i do not mind Losing these players .they have Matured and are worth a lot of money

my point is say we had 15 mil for lewis 20 mil  for Arrons say Buendia goes for 20 mil plus that's £55 million even in todays market

i think it will be a turning point for the club ,

continue to sign free and cheap players ?  how does that fit into the plan ?

how will the fans feel the club bring in £55 million plus sky money but not spending those millions on  players or wages ?

i think it will be very interesting how the club acts if we do sell approx £55 million worth of talent this season

Circulating due to orginiating from one Twitter account that appears to be run by a kid. Nothing to see here.

I thought Max’s quality really shone through against Huddersfield. He was MOTM for me. Would love it if we kept him, but I have a feeling he’ll be one of the ones to go. Why hasn’t he gone yet? I have a sneaking suspicion that he may well already have offers, but with Byram injured and not due back until around the end of the transfer window, it maybe that we’re keeping hold of him until we have Sam back. Would make sense.

On another note, I didn’t see the Luton cup game, but by all accounts many said Mumba was the best player on the pitch. Bearing in mind that that was against fellow Championship opposition, you would have to say therefore that he’s ready.

I’ll take your word for it. I didn’t dig that deep. Be a relief if we can keep hold of him!

Aaron’s is a Rolls Royce wingback, you can’t even consider replacing him with Rupp in that position surely?

Presume you've seen Rupp play extensively at right back then?

Probably as much as we had all seen Max 'Rolls Royce' Aarons at right back before he was ever in the side there?

Back in your hole.

It wouldn't make sense as I don't think Max or his agent would want that risk- what happens if Max does his knee next week or Byram has a setback? If he had offers that we'd agreed to he'd be gone.

The most likely explanation for why he is still here is a lack of offers/demand. He only plays one position and clubs aren't like to keep more than two specialist right backs on their books. At the higher end of the table most teams look pretty set in this position (TAA at Liverpool, Wan Bissaka at United, Doherty now at Spurs, Ricardo at Leicester) and those further down may not want to spend north of £20m on a fullback at this time.

Come on, Rupp v Aarons at RB is not comparable at all.  Can you see Rupp bombing down the wing or taking on a man?  You don't need to see someone play in the position we're posing here to know they don't have the same attributes, we've seen enough of Rupp in midfield to know that.

Yep I watched on iFollow and thought he was our standout player, albeit in a side that performed below par. Looks a fast player and rather handy going forwards, so certainly promising, but hard to judge how well that would translate into a season's worth of league games!

But we haven't though, have we?

Are you really saying that you have already made your mind up on a player that signed for an underperforming club in a January transfer window, 3 months before a global pandemic changed how the season would play out entirely, and has still only palyer 13 games for us total?

Are you genuinely saying he's not good enough to play there without ANY evidence having been made available to you?

I'm not saying he's the answer, I don't know how he will eventually turn out - NONE of us do. What I'm saying is dont write him off considering a the circumstances. Our manager (who probably has a tad more football intelligence about him than some random guy on a forum) said he can play comfortably as right back when we signed him.

I dont want Max to go, but at the same time I haven't made my mind up on a guy that has barely been given any chance by a majority of the fan base. It's not like many of our other players have set the world alight since January is it?

But u suppose that doesn't serve the ones who just want to dislike a player for little reason.

We can't know for sure but you can make an educated guess. Rupp is a 29 year old midfielder who has only ever (to my knowledge) been used as an emergency 'can do a job if needed' type player at fullback.

Having watched him, he seems a player whose best attributes are mobility/work rate rather than pace or link up play, both of which are Aarons strength. I'd imagine if Aarons goes that Farke would want someone who can make the kind of attacking, overlapping runs and play the same give and go passes that Aarons does currently. Nothing I've seen of Rupp so far suggests these are his strengths.

A bad idea really as the club could just end up wasting millions in paying 24% Corporation tax or whatever else the Chancellor decides.

I'm confident he's not comparable to Max Aarons' attributes in that position, yes.

At no point have I said anything negative about Rupp, so prejudice my opinion all you want.
