cambridgeshire canary 6,680 Posted September 5, 2020 (edited) Thought this might spark some fun discussions. Here's mine that will no doubt upset quite a few but hey, you cant please everyone. And yes, given you are Southgate this means you can call up any English player you like. Keep in mind we are of course playing Iceland and not prime Brazil so you can opt to be flexable. Also do you really think Pickford is better than Pope or Henderson?

Southgate clearly trusts and knows him enough too, so fair is indeed fair Edited September 5, 2020 by cambridgeshire canary

Also think Rashford has got better and better and is pushing that front 3 hard.

I tend to block that match from my memory. Just like when people mention suarez. Who's that? Never heard of him.

TheGunnShow 5,933 Posted September 5, 2020 I sure as hell wouldn't have Grealish and Maddison in the same line-up. Iceland tend to play in a compact block, so a speedster down at least one side is often a necessary weapon and personally I'd prefer pace down both. Sterling's there, but I'd give the other gig to Rashford or Sancho. For me, if you want to give Grealish his debut, he should be where Maddison is. Also, if Foden's being given his first cap, I'd sub him on for the player in the hole. Agree with Pope or Dean Henderson over Pickford, but those who argue Pickford hasn't dropped a ricket in an England shirt do have a very good point, and De Gea played excellently for Spain against Germany last time out despite his current travails with Man Utd. No one right answer for that one.

No one right answer for that one. For some reason a lot of goalkeepeers seem to do better for their national team than for their club. Our Mcgovern comes to mind, only only cup and backup keeper and never put in too many good performances but anytime hes played for the Norn iron he played like prime buffon
