lucky green trainers 0 Posted January 31, 2006 What if burley had replaced worthy at xmas? replace soton with city in the following:-.burley strides into soton and says the squad isn''t good enough to gain promotion, they''ve been losing ever since. george tries to recreate his derby & hearts success at soton, by bringing in a load of a load of foreign geezers, who nobody has heard of at the time, but some become household names after, such like rasiak & idiakez, bisgaard etc IN:Peter MadsenFC Cologne28/06/2006On LoanAlexander OstlundFeyenoord30/01/2006Undisclosed AmountJim BrennanNorwich City27/01/2006Free TransferDarren PotterLiverpool26/01/2006On LoanBartosz BialkowskiGornik Zabrze09/01/2006Undisclosed AmountOUT:Eddie AnacletTamworth15/11/2006On LoanMatthew MillsManchester City31/01/2006 Leandre GriffitElfsborg27/01/2006Undisclosed AmountTomasz HajtoDerby County27/01/2006Free TransferJason St''JusteOut of Contract25/01/2006 Theo WalcottArsenal20/01/2006£12,000,000Dennis WiseCoventry City19/01/2006Free TransferAntti NiemiFulham10/01/2006Undisclosed AmountNeil McCannOut of Contract09/01/2006Free TransferAlan BlayneyDoncaster Rovers04/01/2006£50,000even though geroge has got money to burn after walcott transfer, he''s not spent big on homegrown players.would city fans on this board have been happy with the above burleys signings if he was now manager of city - or would we be happy to trust his judgement in signing decent players?who looks better played for promo challenge next year, city or soton? Huddy 0 Posted January 31, 2006 We''ll have to wait and see.I am a bit annoyed that we dont seem to be able to pick some good foreignh talent. Madsen is a danish international striker and Ostlund may do a job, if he''s played at feyonoord he must have some talent. It seems to me that worthy has been putt off by the hamilton/ rioch signings such as de waard, derveld, de blasis, diop etc who never came off when worthy was on the coaching staff. Tom NCFC 0 Posted January 31, 2006 I think Burley has done miles better than Worthy! He sold Niemi but remember how good Paul Smith was as Southampton No2. He was pretty decent. Peter Madsen will do well and Burley''s got Potter who is a real prospect!
