Sportsmen are exempt from the rules.. apparently

It would seem this is not the case if the destination is one on the list of countries on the travel ban and that all PL clubs have been written to, unclear if league clubs have been written to but the week before last there was the incident with the Celtic player who did it off his own bat. If this was organised by the club it is potentially much more serious and alarming

Liverpool in Austria !

Apparently because they played a friendly they are okay to not quarantine, but if it has just been a training camp they would have needed to. The rules seem incredibly inconsistent and incomprehensible  (insert comment here about Government’s handling of Covid for the past 5 months).

Scotland have different policies, so it isn’t directly comparable. Players at English clubs were allowed to holiday in Spain - Emi and Rupp were both in Spain during the break.

Yeah, none of this is logical at this stage. If we have broken the rules though, assumingly unknowingly, it's pretty important that the rules are clarified as the transfer window's only going to be getting busier for most clubs now.

The whole thing is classically/deliberately as clear as mud.  The guy has been part of the Spanish league set up and tested plenty of times and then tested again here, so is hardly a danger to anyone and presumably the club followed what it considered to be the rules.  If it turns out NCFC have made a mistake, it’s just one of those things and shows how messy the whole thing is.
