Herman 9,717 Posted August 15, 2020 Here's an interesting fact.
Icecream Snow 761 Posted August 15, 2020 Was tempted to have a bet on Lyon today as I didn't think much of Man City. Lyon 1-0 up so far.
Capt. Pants 4,202 Posted August 15, 2020 Lyon look quite comfortable, at the moment.
Capt. Pants 4,202 Posted August 15, 2020 Lyon similar tactics to is when we beat City - forcing them out wide.
Branston Pickle 3,638 Posted August 15, 2020 It’s an odd thing, sometimes Citeh huff and puff but don’t look like scoring - like v Saints; clearly need to up it a bit second half
Midlands Yellow 3,946 Posted August 15, 2020 Man City still favourites, 3.2 90 mins me thinking.
Branston Pickle 3,638 Posted August 15, 2020 (edited) Has to be said that it’d be better if the ref didn’t buy every single overreaction that Lyon try. Edited August 15, 2020 by Branston Pickle
keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted August 15, 2020 Not looking promising for ManC at all. Play disrupted all the time and ball spending a lot of the time in the air. They have to take control and play it their way or they are out.
Capt. Pants 4,202 Posted August 15, 2020 You can't help thinking Man City need to sign a proper out and out striker as a plan b. Benzema would be great.
Branston Pickle 3,638 Posted August 15, 2020 1-1 KDB - tbh Lyon aren’t as good as they were when they qualified (finished 7th this season) and were unlikely to keep Citeh out, but I doubt Bayern are worrying unduly about either of them based on what they’ve shown so far. keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted August 15, 2020 Not the heir to Aguero
Icecream Snow 761 Posted August 15, 2020 keystone cops defending 2-1 Lyon
Branston Pickle 3,638 Posted August 15, 2020 Surely that was a foul, or offside?
keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted August 15, 2020 Accidental but still a foul on Laporte. VAR as bad in Europe.
Capt. Pants 4,202 Posted August 15, 2020 City were defending with such a high line prior to that. Quite dreadful really.
Icecream Snow 761 Posted August 15, 2020 Sterling misses open goal from 4 yards out
Branston Pickle 3,638 Posted August 15, 2020 Awful officiating - the ref hasn’t had a grip on Lyon overacting all game and is unlikely to now. That goal had to be disallowed. ....jeez what a miss by Sterling!
Icecream Snow 761 Posted August 15, 2020 ..and Dembele makes it 3-

Capt. Pants 4,202 Posted August 15, 2020 Interesting that the Germans who finished their season early and the French who didn't finish it at all are both through to the ECL semis. EPL teams had to cram 9 games in.

Midlands Yellow 3,946 Posted August 15, 2020 Hats off to Lyon, 6/1 tonight to get through to the semi final.
Branston Pickle 3,638 Posted August 15, 2020 (edited) That second goal should have never stood and the horrendous miss by Sterling pretty much summed that game up! On their day they’ll beat anyone but Citeh are just not good enough often enough this season. Edited August 15, 2020 by Branston Pickle
Canary Wundaboy 1,358 Posted August 15, 2020 That Sterling miss is horrendous but what games like this really show is that Jesus is never going to be Aguero.

Jesus is obviously a quality player with great movement but he doesn't have that clinical and almost selfish streak that Aguero has.
CDMullins 436 Posted August 15, 2020 I've really enjoy the format; One Leg Neutral Stadium. Every game felt like a cup final, really entertaining. Would love the format to stick around post Covid, would feel like a mini tournament at end of each season.

I said the same last night, when Aguero is out they don't have another option up top, Jesus has really not progressed enough to suggest he's going to be a top level striker.
