I enjoyed McMillions. How the MacDonalds Monopoly give away was rigged.

I've always had an interest in the comedy scene in the states, especially people like Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Richard Pryor, George Carlin etc., so for those of you who remember the 'Garry Shandling Show' and the 'Larry Sanders Show' the 'Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling' is an interesting watch, some very familiar faces and some amazing insights to psyche of Garry Shandling.

The 'dirty money's series on Netflix. They cover stuff like the VW emissions scandal,  payday loans, Trumps dodgy business dealings, money laundering by the big banks. Theres a second series now too I need to see.

20 ft from stardom. About backing singers and the contribution they've made to hit records.

Metallica. Some kind of monster. You don't have to be a fan of the band to enjoy this (I'm not) it's more a study on 4 disfuctional people. They filmed themselves trying to make an album when one member leaves, another goes to rehab. They've got so dysfunctional that they hire a full time therapist. 2 of them come across as complete idiots. I just found it really interesting.

The big short. Not strictly a documentary but it has that feel plus it's good so I want to recommend it!. About the housing market crash in the US  15ish years ago. Based on a book by one of the guys who saw what was happening  early on but wasnt taken seriously by the banks.

That should do for today!

We started watching Everything: The Real Thing Story on BBC4 and it’s a surprisingly good watch, even if you weren’t into their music. Really interesting perspective on society at the time and the personal dramas involved.

I've more recently been watching Krishnamurti on YouTube as loads of his talks (I'm guessing from the 1980s) have been loaded. After reading his little books on and off for years it's quite an honour to see him and hear him speak.

Yeah it's on Netflix. It's brutal but ultimately has been a massive force for good - it started the movement that led to Seaworld saying they would no longer breed orcas and the current generation are the last ones they'll keep. As they could still last another 30 years in captivity, it's not enough, they need to empty the tanks and retire them to sea pens now, but doubtful that will happen.

In a similar vein @Herman - The cove is a harrowing look at what goes on in Japan's annual dolphin hunt where they capture dolphins for captivity and slaughter them for meat. They're very secretive about it but the crew managed to get hidden cameras in the right places. Well worth a watch, but it's difficult viewing.
