Fan Consultation Over Crowd Return.

You'd hope people would be forgiving- this is an impossibly difficult situation and people really need to understand there no perfect solution to keep everyone happy.

It's just tough Kingo. I really want to go back but actually making some sort of decision is really tough. Not just for what's best for me but also for others I come in contact with.

I haven't been living as a hermit and manage to get out and about most days. But I avoid crowds. I live in sheltered housing and although it's independent living  if I'm careless it could affect others who live there.

I don't envy you in making those sorts of decisions- it is very tough. I also don't envy the decision makers at NCFC trying to cook up a plan with these restrictions.

Yes, Nutty it’s a real toughie this one.

I’m OK as I won’t be going back with restrictions in place but for you and others who knows what is the right decision ?

It looks like numbers will be more restricted than first thought. I was under the impression that the club intended to have three trials with a different 8000 attending each time but it seems that’s been scaled back by 25%.

As others have said it’s a problem that football clubs will be unlikely to ever encounter again and there’s no magic bullet. Whatever the club do it will be wrong in some eyes and I hope us fans can see the problems and give them a bit of slack.

Whatever you decide should be viewed against the local situation. A couple of months ago it would not have been sensible for the vulnerable to leave their homes. The situation has now changed radically, especially in Norwich and Norfolk where you would be extremely unlikely to bump into an infected person. You cannot live forever in fear so sensible informed actions are the only option.

If things remain the same, and I stress the word if; then going to CR with a 6k crowd is probably less dangerous than nipping into M&S (while observing social distancing rules) for a packet of  "Taste the Difference" Hot Cross Buns.

Hence why I found it impossible to make decisions in advance.

  • Indeed, but if things continue to improve I expect that if our number comes up we will both be there with bells on.👍

Isn’t ‘taste the difference’ at Sainsbury?!🤔🙂

Re: going back, it is a v tricky one, and something we have to individually decide on - I know a fair few people who can’t face being in crowds right now, however ‘distanced’.  I’m not too sure whether to schlep up for games either, but I will probably put my name down for a few games.

Hope so👍

How we travel to games and how we socialise before and after games will also need consideration.

I won't  be giving anyone a crossbar on my bike. That should be good enough.🚲

It's the "I bought my buns in Lidl's and put them in a M&S bag" range. 🤣

As will those that were involved in the consultation when it inevitably hits the fan.

You've hit the nail on the head Dunc which probably explains why nobody has put their hand in the air saying they were involved in the consultation.

To be fair this must be a nightmare for all clubs to progress, the more season ticket holders the more complicated. I accept all fans will have a different perspective on this. I have two tickets an adults and and under 12 for my granddaughter. Clearly no point the latter having a ticket if i cannot go. I am early 60s fit and no underlying conditions so in principle would be willing to attend when the Government sanction it. I would say from the outset that i paid for my ticket in full in February and if not allowed in want my money back i have no interest whatsoever in a streaming package if i had wanted one of those i would have bought one. Live football or nothing for me. The televised games since resumption have been soulless affairs with no atmosphere, i know it cannot be helped but i really am not inclined to watch many more games like that. Given that schools are starting in September and the scientists have intimated that things may have to be stopped to mitigate a rise in infections i honestly feel we are living in cuckoo land if we think crowds will be allowed in any time quick, i think live sport will be well down the pecking order behind retail and pubs. The  experience of Scotland shows that the Governing bodies need to come down on clubs like a ton of bricks if they cannot  keep their players in order, Celtic one going off to Spain on the quiet and 8 Aberdeen players in the pub and that is all we know about. For what its worth our clubs attempt to let every ST holder see one game a month initially and pay back the money for the other missed games does seem as fair as you can get it

I hope you’re lucky enough to get in, if you do, take it, go and enjoy the best you can, life’s way too short to keep worrying about one nightmare, take precautions as much as you can but life’s about memories and fun, you’ve had enough ****e this year........go and have fun guys💚💛🍻

Tilly, you know that these consultations are not exactly lip service but the club usually goes into them with a fairly good idea as to what they're planning and the meetings end up fiddling with the embroidery round the edges.

One exception was the round of fan group meetings after the ill conceived membership scheme for last season was hastily introduced. The club invited the various groups to brainstorming sessions in an effort to improve the membership scheme for season 2020/21. It's rare for the club to attend these sort of things with a blank sheet of paper.

Fair enough if you don't live with a vulnerable person but if you do you soon realise there's a lot more to life than football.

Yes that’s always a concern, but getting shopping in for vulnerable people, getting parcel or post through the door etc all have a risk......

Obviously people will need to decide, but if you steer clear of high risk areas, wear a good quality mask, carry high alcohol gel, there’s always precautionary things to minimise risk. As said our area is probably lowest risk at present and who know by the end of September we might just about be seeing a vaccine.

Fair comments Indy but making unnecessary contact with a lot of strangers for a social activity is an avoidable risk.

A large bottle of high alcohol sanitiser is certainly advisable for if Norwich carry on with last season's form a 70 per cent proof drink might come in handy 😉

A half time application does wonders for all ills.

I've been off work this week and out and about locally quite a bit, including going to the gym, but mainly eating out. It's clear to me some organisations take COVID  very seriously and they have precautions in place and you feel very safe there. There are others who frankly don't have a ****ing clue and are just piling people in for quick profit. I may as well licked the ****ing door handle.

NCFC has to take this seriously. A crowd of only 6000 for example would still be the largest social gathering in Norfolk post lockdown and the club needs to know exactly who is in the ground and have quite extreme measures in place. If I felt vulnerable there is no way I would give my ticket to someone I have close contact with, because there's no way of knowing who they would come in close contact with in and around the ground.

Personally I can't see any safe way of getting crowds together yet, it's far too early. Evidence from around the world suggests as soon as people group up the virus spreads.

Social distancing is mainly not being adhered to, went to Yarmouth today for my sins, queues for all rides, food stalls just like a normal summer day,  anyone wanting my season ticket allocation is welcome to it
