For different reasons I'd expect the following to leave:

Buendia

Cantwell

Leitner

Trybull

Stiepermann

Vrancic (maybe)

I do think Hernandez will be important to us in the champs.

2. Onel Hernandez

3. Todd Cantwell- could be off

4. Alex Tettey

5. Kenny McClean

6. Marco Stiepermann

7. Mario Vrancic- think he'll leave

8. Lukas Rupp

9. Tom Trybull- think he'll leave

10. Josh Martin- one for a loan maybe?

11. Moritz Leitner- think he'll leave

New Signings

12. Kieran Dowell

13. Daniel Sinnai

14. Melvin Sitti

15. Jacob Sorenson

16. Przemyslaw Placheta

17. Matthew Dennis- won't be in the first team picture

18. Charlie Gilmour- added as I think he could have a role this season

So that leaves 11 midfielders if everyone I've marked as leaving goes.

Stiepermann?

You forget how crucial his link up play and height we're behind pukki in the championship.

Stiepermann will be a back-up at worst. That partnership with Pukki in the Championship last time was too good to break up.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Sinani is also considered to be a back-up striker. Martin will surely be on loan now.

Also, don't forget that this season is more congested than usual due to the side-effects of this pandemic, so we will need a lot of depth. Would agree that Trybull, Vrancic, and Leitner look the closest to the exit door of our squad players. I'll be amazed if Buendia is not sold to be honest, Cantwell could go too - and signing these homegrown ones makes me think he could well be off fairly soon.

Leitner the sulk needs to go, and Trybull needs to go because he's far too average for a team with top tier aspirations. Don't think he'd really stand out in League one.

Stiepermann depends on numbers I think. May get another year as a squad player, versatility may save him for now.

I really rate Vrancic as a player but probably the right time to part ways, he doesn't get much of a look in. Would be happy if he was happy to be a squad player again though. Could be a handy option as somebody to come on and control the tempo a bit?

Should imagine 2 or 3 out of that 4 will be off.

I’ve said this elsewhere I think it’s better to forge a new partnership with players for the future. Sure keep Stieperman around for competition / backup but we know he isn’t the future.

Maybe we are just going to forget about defending altogether next season. A bit like the one just finished to be honest

Yep, same reason to perhaps part with Vrancic who is a good player but not the future.

Makes some sense to me.

I think Webber wants players who he thinks can make the step up if we do bounce back at first go- harsh as it sounds players like Marco and Trybull have shown they can't so if we're serious about being a regular at that level you move them on.

Players will only leave if they are wanted elsewhere, everyone under contract will move if someone to pay more.  After disastrous season no midfield player Cantwell apart has played well enough to earn a move.  Can see many of the youngsters to go out on loan, cannot accomodate them all.

Vrancic probably most creative of midfield once Buendia moves on should have played more in PL but needed 2 DM's to assist defence which didn't work out

It sounds dramatic when you put it like that.

The reality is that we have those players for five positions, assuming that we will continue to play 4-2-3-1 next season.

There will clearly be departures though and, as others have stated, I think we will clear out the players who weren't good enough - as well as one or two others who attract lucrative offers.

One would assume that Trybull and Leitner have been told that they can find another club this summer. Vrancic and Stiepermann were rarely used last season, so also seem likely to depart. It is a shame in a way - they all contributed a lot during our promotion season and provided many fond memories. Decent players, nice guys... but we need better.

Remember that they've all just had  a 50% pay cut.

So wouldn't surprise me if there are people willing to match the wages of Leitner or Vrancic in Germany.

If there is a shortfall then we can reach an arrangement with the player to cover it.

If a player is on £15k, is happy to move, but their new team will only pay £11k then we simply have to reach an agreement on the other £4k a week. This might be a lump sum of whatever amount, or we could even pay them that £4k a week until the end of their current contract length.

Its not necessarily going to be a big issue.

If it were then how come James Husband moved to Blackpool on a permanent in January, he wasn't out of contract. I bet his wages here were higher.
