Technology

Recommended Posts

Was being described as essential in the modern game. VAR and GDS will make the game less controversial and ensure correct results.

Well, it’s just relegated Bournemouth. Sums up the season. ‘Technology’ 👍

Just posted on other threads. Highly likely that Bournemouth will now take legal action against the PL and hawk eye over this.

They should, they will not win, but the error was obvious and correctable. Absolutely no excuse.

As per main match thread you wouldn’t blame Bournemouth to take some form of action,  as it’s clear Hawkeye is an integral part of any game and should have been working and VAR was for any clear and obvious errors......well that was the clearest error ever!

Maybe Bournemouth losing their premiership status is a bit of justice for breaking the FFP rules to get promoted...  i know how much people like no money being spent on clubs, so this argument should prove very popular..

no, that is just you lying

the thought is that clubs should not spend what they cannot afford to repay

and the flaw with the above is the presumption that the game would have followed exactly same had the goal been awarded

Shock. There has been a mistake.

World Cup Finals aren't immune.

Those who advocate technology have to stick with it.

For now, those of us who think it plays no part in the game will smirk.

It reminds me of the old joke.

People board an aeroplane and a voice comes over the PA and says, "This plane is being completely controlled by a computer. It will pilot the plane. It will serve drinks and snacks and offload your luggage. It is foolproof and absolutely nothing can go wrong, go wrong, go wrong, go wrong . . .

At the end of the day you can have all the technology in the World but the final decision will always be made by a human being.

Therefore why have all these technological gadgets when the ref & 2 linesmen can do it just as well if not better.

It's like all these gadgets you get in cars these days - it's just one more thing that you don't really need and you know that sooner or later it is going to go wrong.

The EPL must have spent a fortune on all this kit plus the wages of the dummies who sit in a bunker and operate it.

On what basis? How many clubs had relegation overturned or were awarded compensation when a bad reffing decision relegated them?

Don’t know what happened there 👆

Not a technology issue but due to the wrongful transfers of Tevez and Mascherano to West Ham (could the powers that be have actually checked all was above board and stopped the moves?), Sheff Utd were eventually awarded compensation following relegation...weren’t they?

West Ham paid the compensation to Sheff Utd.

Because satnav occasionally gets it wrong we should ban satnav. Actually the technology didnt get it wrong, we can see from the  video that the ball crossed the line, the problem is the idiots in stockley park getting it wrong.

As I understand it the problem came about because goal-line technology had until then worked perfectly and, as I predicted when it was introduced, with many 'goals' that would have been given in the past, had shown that the ball has not crossed the line.

In this case because the ref's watch did not buzz for a goal, apparently because bodies were blocking the technology, the VAR official was then caught between believing the evidence of their own eyes, assuming they saw an image as above,, and trusting the goalline technology. But with the pic above the ball looks to be only millimetres beyond the line.
