NeymarSmith 130 Posted July 22, 2020 I know this is just a ncfc thread, but I'd just like to say how wonderful it is to show a manager with such passion! Love this! Let's hope Farke is shedding a year next season when we smash the league https://mobile.twitter.com/SkyFootball/status/1286048939398123522?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
Rolf Harris 31 Posted July 22, 2020 Believe Wigan going to court regarding relegation. So wouldn't celebrate too soon.
Branston Pickle 3,632 Posted July 22, 2020 (edited) Derby and Sheff Wed could also be in trouble; ultimately Wigan are in administration so that’s the penalty. Edited July 22, 2020 by Branston Pickle

That would be too cruel and totaly immoral. Wigan will have to have the rules applied as they have for other clubs have done in the same position. Harsh, but it would be even harsher on Barnsley now. Think it is harsher on Wigan caught up in a scam. EFL need to sort out their rules on owner vetting.
Number9 272 Posted July 23, 2020 It's been a rule for a good time now. Administration brings points deduction, at the end of the season it will be applied to relegate the club, alternatively if the deduction won't relegate the club, they start the following season on minus points. It's happened to other clubs previously, everyone knows the rules.

Could the administrators take the EFL to court for allowing this change of ownership as something very dodgy is obviously afoot there.and the new owners weren't fit and proper people (unlike the previous ones obviotsly🙄)

The person who bought Wigan didn’t fall into any of those categories so past the test. The fit and proper person test isn’t a judgment on someone’s intention or if they are actually competent it is a simple legal test.

Indeed, which is why I would want any potential owner of Norwich City to submit themselves to a much more rigorous independent assessment of their financial standing and business history and competence. Not being willing to do that would be a strong indication against them.

So how are we expecting the Saudi's takeover of Newcastle to unfold? Would other serious crimes not come into consideration?

keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted July 23, 2020 For any club (outside the Prem of course) to go into administration is clearly a desperate situation. It is more than likely that relegation looms and in L2 it could mean dropping out completely. Football has never been squeaky clean and I don't think it ever will. There is just too much temptation for people to get involved who have no real place in much at all apart from a prison cell.
repman 634 Posted July 23, 2020 Struber is also a fantastic coach and if Wigan's appeal is unsuccessful then Barnsley could well be an outside shot for the top 6 next season.
DraytonBoy 142 Posted July 23, 2020 IMO it would be so wrong if Barnsley were relegated at the end of the month.

I've not seen his football, but thought his passion was top class. Barnsley must have a good eye, as their previous coach Daniel strendel played good football. Have you seen much of strubers football this season @repman ?

The football is similar, if not even more intense than it was under Stendel. Struber has better pedigree though, coming through the coaching ranks at RB Salzburg. The most remarkable thing about Barnsley is the fact their side is incredibly young, and coming into this season was also basically untested at this level. The squad had 135 C'ship appearances between them, with 128 belonging to one player.

There must be more to it than that, because John Ryan failed for not being able to prove he had adequate funding.

That is a different test. Before they even get to the ‘Fit and Proper’ person bit you’ve got to prove you have the money.
