lucky green trainers

never mind the striker, where's the right winger?

Recommended Posts

i''m happy to see thorne and wly up front, and try to get a loanee in, if as it turns out nobody will sell a decent forward for under 3m.We need a right winger - no mention of targets  for this posi, all strikers -  mcsheffs, jerome, earnie etc. halford can play there apparently, but is playing right back this season.  we need a dedicated right winger, specialised and skilled in that posi, not a utility man.

From what I can gather, Halford seems to be equally at home in right wing position as he is at right back. Seems that if all else fails this is the player that we should be moving heaven and earth to sign.

The striker bit does look thin on the ground - Todorov would lead the line well though IMO.

LGT - the right winger/midfielder is probably playing up front at his current club!

To be honest we dont have much in all areas of the field, we need improvement all over the field. Midfield is probably the lower problem, we need a new right back colin is a waste of space or at least a new Central defender. So for me a new defender and attacker minimum

According yo Colchester fans Halfords best position is up-front. He wins almost everything in the air, is good on the air and has one hell of a shot on him. They compare him with Peter crouch

The right-winger we desperately need is also at colchester. Niel Danns scored twice against Dearby today from the right and has run defences ragged this season icluding Sheffield Utds in the F.A cup.

A double swoop for these two players and getting a decent right back in on loan like Stephen Kelly would make our starting 11 qaulity;

Green

Kelly Doherty Shackell Drury

Danns Robinson Safri Huckerby

Halford Mcviegh
McSheffrey can play right wing.  I''d love to see him here
I seem to recall that somebody checked with the Cov fans when MacSheffrey was first mentioned. They reckoned he''s more a Huckerby type who prefers to drift to the left. McSheff & Hucks are both right footed (I think!), you''d think one of them could play on the right side, eh?

I noticed while watching MOTD last night that Coventry are playing McSheffrey in a left wing role. He caused Middlesbrough no end of troubled cutting in on his left foot and the pundits were saying he was one of the best players on the pitch yesterday.

I think certainly he is an option but do we know he has a right foot good enought to put him on the right wing? It seems to me his left is his predominant foot.

I think that, with some decent service, Thorne / Leon / Hendo could score a few. We need a midfield much more than we need a striker, as Deano proved - even a £7m striker struggled to score without any service.

firstly, let me say i''m well chuffed and excited to see earnie here at city.  hopefully he''ll lift the atmosphere at carra rd - its been like a morgue there recently.  earnie is quality and welcome.it looks like no right winger will be signed, who would people like to see play there, hughes or wly are the only candidates in my view?
